My professional career began as a certified American Sign Language Interpreter in 2001 and quickly progressed into earning a Graduate degree in Social Work at the University of Texas at Austin.

Hi! My name is Christina Burke I am a Deaf Licensed Graduate Social Worker (LGSW) in Washington D.C. and Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) in Maryland. I provide psychological care and services to people who are deaf, hard of hearing, deaf-blind, late deafened and cochlear implant user in American Sign Language (ASL). My practical applications are mainly done through Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and Gestalt Therapy. This gives a better understanding of the individual, their needs and goals, and their palpable eagerness to do "the work." Clients that I work with are generally committed to the process. These characteristics start to show up, or become stronger each week, as the client begins to trust me, and ultimately themselves, with their healing journey. Each client is unique and every journey is different. I will always follow the lead of my client and let them set the pace of progress.
