Athletes who want to improve focus and reduce anxiety are taught individually-tailored effective skills. I use American Sign Language with deaf and hard-of-hearing children and adults. I work well with people who have gaps in social and language skills common to Asperger's Disorder, High Functioning Autism, and various learning disorders. I use research-based approaches such as cognitive-behavioral, mindfulness-based, and solution-focused family therapy.

With over 25 years of experience in this field, I am unique and eclectic in my approach. I particularly enjoy working with clients who have been seen as "difficult" by others or who have been dissatisfied with counseling in the past. I recognize the hard work that goes into bringing about change, but still feel the overall experience in counseling should be enjoyable. Howard has been a providing psychotherapy, behavioral therapy, and consultation to mental health and developmentally disabled populations since 1973. He has also directed both adult and children's partial hospital programs for consumers from the ages of 4-60+.

I have had the years of privilege of helping many young children with autism spectrum, ADHD, Down syndrome mental and behavioral health issues. I have experience working with in-home, in-school wraparound services. My sessions are based on ABA-Evidence Based Intervention within most natural environment of learning.
