During my professional career I have worked with individuals of all ages who suffer from traumatic experiences, mood disorders, chronic illness, grief and loss, crisis intervention and a host of other issues. I am a certified premarital/marital counseling facilitator with PREPARE/ENRICH.

Teryn is a Licensed Social Worker who earned her Master’s in Social Work from Aurora University with a specialization in School Social Work. Teryn’s undergraduate degree is in Social Work with a minor in American Sign Language. Teryn has experience as an elementary school social worker, primarily working with kindergarten through third grade students with mild to severe disabilities (Autism, Down Syndrome, TBI, Deaf and Hard of Hearing, among other unique disabilities). As a therapist fluent in American Sign Language, I work extensively with the Deaf community. I am passionate about working with Deaf and hard-of-hearing individuals in a way that respects their culture.

How does one eat an elephant? "One bite at a time." I will assist with defining/understanding your elephant, with finding the best place to start and I'll support you along the way. I've worked extensively with and understand the issues of individuals/spouses/families of city workers (police, fire, etc.) and others dealing with anxiety, depression, anger management issues, addictions, trauma & situational stress, and life transitions. I specialize in individual therapy and I'm trained in CBT and as an art therapist who specializes in helping other tap their creative powers and in find balance in living creatively.

I have worked with young children, adolescents, adults, couples, families, and groups with a variety of mental health and behavioral struggles. While I am open to and enjoy working with people of all ages and backgrounds, my area of expertise includes therapy with children and adolescents. I have worked with many children and adolescents throughout my lifetime in various settings, including private practice, a variety of schools, a residential school, a childcare center, several sports leagues and more. Despite my array of experience, I have always felt most drawn to the counseling setting.

Tess has experience working with children, adults, and families, age 5 and older, in individual and group settings. Tess utilizes a variety of evidence based therapeutic approaches to help her clients achieve long and short-term goals. She tailors her therapeutic approach to the unique and complex needs of her clients. Tess provides support through a multicultural lens to address anxiety, coping skills, confidence, boundaries, self-esteem, relationship issues, depression, domestic violence, substance use, stress, grief and loss, complex trauma, and life transitions.

Clients that come to me for issues regarding their dissatisfaction with their progress on overcoming their challenges in life. Life issues range from traumatic experiences, LGBTQ issues, addictions & substance use disorders, spiritual problems, career problems, chronic illness, child & parenting issues as well as family imbalances. They want change and they want it with someone who can connect with them in real ways that help them know they are cared for, can be confident, and can overcome the challenges that confront them.

It is my goal to work with people of all ages, and simply meet them where they are. I hope to motivate my clients to make changes that will enhance the quality of their lives, working from the most appropriate theoretical models that suit each person's needs.
