Welcome! My name is Yvette Medina and I am a bicultural Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor in the state of Illinois with a sense of humor and a love for helping people. I have 18 years experience working in the mental health field. I am so happy that you are taking the first step in taking care of yourself. I applaud you as you enter this journey. Tess has experience working with children, adults, and families, age 5 and older, in individual and group settings. Tess utilizes a variety of evidence based therapeutic approaches to help her clients achieve long and short-term goals. She tailors her therapeutic approach to the unique and complex needs of her clients. Tess provides support through a multicultural lens to address anxiety, coping skills, confidence, boundaries, self-esteem, relationship issues, depression, domestic violence, substance use, stress, grief and loss, complex trauma, and life transitions.

I believe that people have primary accountability for their own lives, and that within each of us is the power and capacity to make choices that will lead to happiness and fulfillment. However, sometimes there are obstacles that must first be overcome (for example, anger, depression, trauma, anxiety, sexual identity issues, relationship problems, etc.) to be able to make healthy choices. I assist my clients along their journey of self-discovery as they learn how to empower themselves to overcome their obstacles. They then are able to make choices that will lead them to the life they want to have.
