I'm passionate about supporting different generations of Asian immigrants, multicultural individuals, and other marginalized populations to deal with life challenges including trauma, complex trauma, intergenerational conflicts, self-esteem issues, life transitions, acculturation, depression, anxiety, emotional regulation, stress, grief, and other issues. I work mostly with different generations of immigrants, multicultural individuals, and other marginalized communities.

We're a trauma-informed, culturally-sensitive mental health counseling group for multicultural, Asian, BIPOC, immigrants, LGBTQIA+, and other marginalized communities. We're passionate about working with individuals, couples and families from different cultural backgrounds, exploring how complex identities and unique personal experiences have shaped us into who we are. We specialize in healing from anxiety, complex trauma, relationship issues, perinatal issues, ADHD, adoption, OCD, stress, cultural identity, cultural/intergenerational conflicts, family conflicts, grief, and other issues.

I offer a warmly collaborative, open, and at times, gently challenging approach to help you enhance your quality of life. My clients are busy, driven adults who feel "stuck" in their relationships and careers, and disconnected from themselves and others who matter most. Many report experiencing anxiety in various forms, imposter syndrome, excessive worry, and burnout. Since 2013, I have compassionately guided clients toward a higher sense of fulfillment, well-being, and overall functioning. Using integrative clinical approaches tailored to your specific needs, I will partner with you to create positive change.

As a queer, Asian-American who was raised in a religious immigrant home, I empathize with the struggles of reconciling cultural conflicts and diverging identities. My therapeutic space offers safety and support for exploring your inner self, thoughts, feelings, and relationships. I'll guide you to a deeper self-awareness, helping you understand how your identities and values shape your realities. My role is to create a secure environment for you to navigate your discomforts, challenge negative thoughts, and reshape old narratives. I want you to walk away feeling empowered to overcome life's challenges with strength and resilience.

People with healthy, positive, and supportive relationships are most likely to be happier and healthier. Whether you are married, dating, or single; we all have relationships. Relationships are not just about other people, but some of us struggle to maintain a healthy relationship with work, food, substances, social media, etc. Whether it's in anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, relational issues, I believe with proper care clients can make healthy changes towards being happier and healthy. Change can be difficult, but my job is to be with you with every step.

The clients who are the best fit for my clinical approach tend to be people who want to build a stronger sense of self, learn how to center their own needs and set boundaries, and are open to inner child healing. The clients I work with want to change their relationship with themselves to be more compassionate and nurturing. They are recovering people pleasers, people who want to learn how to be more assertive, often have unresolved trauma, and are ready to break cycles in order to establish new patterns. They seek support from me to discuss dating, relationships, sex, childhood traumas, identity, and healing from abuse and neglect.

I value creating a collaborative relationship that fosters trust and safety by infusing warmth, curiosity, humor, and authenticity into how I relate to others. As I learn more about your experiences, we will work together to explore your concerns and identify techniques to better manage them. I listen for patterns to help you draw connections between current and past life events and how they are impacting you in the present. I hope to create a space for you to bravely reflect on changes you want to make in your life that will lead to a more fulfilling present and future.

I work with life transitions, grief, and spirituality. Maybe your sense of purpose or meaning has gone missing - maybe someone you know is no longer here, or perhaps something you thought was a certainty in your life - a job, a relationship, a friend, a pet, a community, your health or very life - is not so certain anymore. Hello! My name is Michelle Wong (she/hers) and I’m a provisionally licensed therapist at Innovative Counseling Partners PLLC in Oak Park. I received my training and Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Adler University. My approach to the therapeutic process is integrative and I create a non-judgmental, safe, fruitful, healthy, and fun relationship. I value empathic understanding, compassion, diversity, and creativity.

The things that life throws at us can be so difficult - and without genuine, empathetic, and reliable support, that change may feel almost impossible to maneuver through. I foster a therapeutic environment of comfort and honesty so that we can work together as our full selves, to conquer some of those small goals you may have, and some of those goals that you're just not sure how to put into words. I enjoy using trauma informed, solution focused interventions to assist individuals in identifying barriers for growth and better effectively cope with painful thoughts/emotions.

My personal identities (i.e. latine and South Asian), along with my education in psychology, religion, and social work, inform my practice through an anti-oppression lens that is affirming of people on the LGBTQIA2S+ spectrum, people of all sizes, genders, racial, and religious identities, parenting and non-parenting people, diverse relationship structures, kinksters, people who have been incarcerated, and people who work(ed) in survival economies (i.e. sex work).

I am a compassionate trauma-informed therapist that primarily works with individuals struggling with trauma/PTSD, ADHD, neurodivergent issues, relationship issues, chronic pain, physical disability, partner violence, substance abuse, anxiety, stress, depression, cultural identity, cultural/intergenerational conflicts, family conflicts, and other issues. As a daughter of South Asian immigrants, I have always been interested in working with traditionally overlooked communities. I have worked with individuals with dual diagnosis, domestic violence survivors, veterans, and LGBTQIA individuals.

I'm a licensed art therapist that is dedicated to nurturing culturally attuned care for the Asian and Asian-American communities.
