My work helps people with various mental and behavioral health concerns (e.g., depression, anxiety, co- occurring disorders, etc.) cope better with their experiences and make changes to improve their health and wellbeing. I generally work with people on improving stress, improving interpersonal skills/relationships, increasing motivation for change, and increasing self- awareness. I believe in the importance and impact of intersectional identity (race/gender/class) and use a multicultural approach to therapy.
My therapeutic approach is rooted in cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT). CBT is evidenced- based practices and intervention techniques for various emotional and behavioral concerns. I utilize other therapeutic approaches, including: Motivational Interviewing, Resiliency Training, Integrative therapy, and Psycho-education in a safe; supportive environment.
I would best describe my therapeutic approach as empathetic, yet honest. Building rapport and trust is important for the process.
