I believe that we all have diverse, rich histories which are unique to our own life experiences. It is necessary to build a positive therapeutic experience centered on your personal life story and the goals you are attempting to meet. I believe my clients are the expert of their life and are allowing me to help them to work through a small part of their journey. I specialize in helping couples overcome issues causing them distress. I am trained in level 1 and level 2 Gottman Method for couples counseling. It is scientifically validated and has research supporting its effectiveness.
When couples come in to my office in distress, I feel it is important to alleviate the anxiety about counseling. Not knowing what to expect causes unnecessary anxiety. In the first session with my couples I tell them what they can expect from our time together and how things work.
Everyone has things they would like to change. It take strength to seek outside help. There is no blame or taking-sides when I work with couples. For change to occur, each person needs to feel respected and safe to share and grow.
