Announcement icon Artvango's committed to serving children & families through online therapy & phone sessions to strengthen you & your family needs.
I achieved my Masters degree in Transpersonal Counseling Psychology & in Art Therapy from Naropa University located in Boulder, Colorado. Naropa University is Buddhist-inspired, which emphasizes on professional and personal growth, intellectual development, and contemplative practice in Art Therapy. I'm trained in EMDR, which is an integrative psychotherapy approach that has been extensively researched and proven effective for the treatment of trauma. It's a set of standardized protocols that incorporates elements from many different treatment approaches. To date, EMDR therapy has helped millions of people of all ages relieve many types of psychological stress (EMDRIA website, 2015). In addition, I am the founder of Artvango, a nonprofit organization offering expressive forms of therapy to children in the foster care system. We have trauma trained therapist that use various forms of expressive therapy to help children self-express and begin the healing journey. Parents are also trained/informed on how trauma affects the brain, as we try to help the whole family not just the child.
Art allows for expression & healing to occur when words fail to express what we've gone through & the art visually contains it for us. Combining Art Therapy & EMDR, issues clear quicker & effectively in comparison to traditional talk therapy. We also provide play therapy and various forms of expressive forms of therapeutic activities to self-express. Artvango was created for children, especially those in the foster care system as they are placed in circumstances that are out of their control.
Our therapists have clinical experience in a variety of settings including; a low income medical clinic, schools, mental health treatment center, & in a non-profit settings. We primarily serve children, adolescents, & families conducting counseling sessions in both English & in Spanish.
