My passion is helping people through life change, career transition, grief and loss, relationship conflict, health and wellness change, life goals, addiction and recovery, employee conflict and finding purpose and meaning in your life path. I have written and published several self-help books to help motivate and inspire people. I am licensed in the states of Arizona, North Carolina and Wisconsin.

My ideal client is someone who is interested in helping themselves and creating change in their life. At Expressive Therapies, we work with the creative arts (music and art therapies) along with mental health counseling to provide a holistic approach unique to each individual. Sara is also a qualified gambling treatment provider, for gambler and their loved ones.

I often utilize brainspotting, art, and psychotherapy together to create self-expression and self-exploration. I meet where the individuals are at which determines what therapeutic approach we choose to make goals a success. I believe the individuals are the expert of their story and that the individuals have many strengths that will assist them in overcoming things that challenge them. I help individuals build motivation, self-esteem, and confidence during their journey.

As such, our sessions will focus on you while working on self-development, coping skills, pain and stress management, and overall empowerment. We will focus on topics related to mental health using art as a way to communicate in session when there may be difficulty in finding the right words.

I have learned throughout my career that being a compassionate listener is a very powerful tool to use, as I walk along side my clients on their life path. I am a psychotherapist working in private practice with a Master of Science degree in Professional Counseling from Concordia University Wisconsin, located in Mequon, WI.

The Caring Tree: Children & Counseling Center in Wausau provides therapy to children of all ages and their families. Our focus is on improving the overall wellness of children who are experiencing post-trauma, mood disorders such as depression and anxiety, ADHD, and high functioning autism. Therapy facilitates communication and healing while supporting the family.

I love working as an art therapist. In sessions, we’ll focus on making art, self-exploration, finding solutions, and creative play. Art can help you find direction, discover inner strength, write a new story and explore beliefs that make you unique. I provide support, guidance and space for you to have a safe, encouraging therapeutic experience. I provide all art materials for you to use and will help you explore different materials during each art therapy session.

She has experience in crisis intervention and trauma and is trained in EMDR and TF-CBT. She has helped many clients with eclectic concerns such as depression, anxiety, self-harm, suicidal ideation, oppositional behaviors, conduct disorders, Autism Spectrum, schizophrenia and other psychoses, and relationship concerns. Viewing each therapeutic relationship as a partnership, Carey diligently works to meet clients where they’re at, without judgment, helping them to heal and achieve individual goals.
