A combination of narrative, play, art or gradual exposure interventions can help your body and mind feel safe again.
Be proud of yourself. If you have found my profile, you have already taken the first step toward helping yourself, this may be the most difficult of them. For the second step, if you're looking for support toward healing past traumas or navigating any symptoms you may not even understand, such as anxiety or depression. If you're tired of "being over dramatic", having nightmares, panic attacks or even, struggling to get out of bed, take that second step. Therapy can be scary, but so can the thought of being stuck in the cycle your body and mind are finding you in now.

Finding a therapist can be difficult. Finding a therapist who is the right fit can be even more challenging. You made it this far! A brief 10-15 minute phone consultation will bring you closer to exploring what your next steps toward a healthier and happier life could look like and to ensure that we are the right fit. I am a New York State licensed creative arts therapist (LCAT) and a nationally registered, board-certified art therapist (ATR-BC), offering individual and family therapy, as well as art therapy supervision.

Life often throws us curveballs. These could be relationship difficulties, death of a loved one, stress at work, or struggles related to past trauma, depression, anxiety or life transitions. Perhaps your little one is showing behavioral struggles and he is falling behind in school, or you need help navigating a new adoption, or foster child. I will tailor my therapeutic technique to you. It is my job to listen, learn about your individual situation and provide you with the tools, techniques or resources to help; whether through psychoeducation, dialogue, coaching, or homework.

If you struggle with traditional talk therapy, or are looking to enhance your therapeutic experience with creativity, I can guide you through exploring authentic emotions and finding a deeper sense of self through Art Therapy.
“Mountains know the secrets we need to learn; that it might take time, it might be hard, but if you just hold on long enough, you will find the strength to rise up.” -Tyler Knott Gregson. Making the decision to change any aspect of your life is a big step towards living authentically and with fulfillment. Feeling overwhelmed, burnt out, struggling with not feeling like yourself, or burdened by the impact of unprocessed trauma can make this step seem daunting. Together we can take that step, work towards a stronger sense of self, better handle triggers and work through past traumas.

I specialize in mindfulness, somatic therapy, art therapy, EMDR, and energy healing (Reiki) to help my clients move through stuck emotions in the body.
Emotions are currents of energy in the body. Energy such as (but not limited to) anxiety, depression, anger and trauma, contract and trigger the "fight or flight" response. This leaves the body in a high alert state. If not expressed, this energy lingers in the body causing imbalance, even illness in the body and mind. Learn to tune into the bodily experience of your emotions, release toxic energy and activate the "rest and digest" response to regain balance. By practicing awareness, expression and intention my clients feel more empowered and in control of their emotions, allowing them to live a more expanded and fulfilled life.

I specialize in working with kids, teens, and young adults, using a combination of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy (REBT), Narrative Therapy, Play Therapy, and Art therapy to address areas of concern.
When a person is struggling, I look at the big picture, not just "problems" or "symptoms." Through a strengths-based perspective, I try to see how the problem areas came to be, formulate a plan to address concerns, and actively teach skills to foster change. Through this lens, I have successfully worked with kids (as young as 5), teens, and young adults to address depression, anxiety, self-harm, OCD, ADHD, and other behavioral and emotional disturbances.

I strongly believe in the healing power of art and its ability to allow us to connect with our inner selves.
As someone who is LGBTQIA+ and grew up in a conservative community, I know how living inauthentically can weigh on you. Pleasing others at the expense of yourself can have some challenging and long-term consequences. What starts as suppressing your emotions ends up as ongoing depression and anxiety as you continually make choices to minimize conflict rather than truly meet your own needs. While the path forward can feel confusing, there is hope for finding a sense of clarity and relief, and awakening to a life that you genuinely want to engage with and thrive in.

I offer both Talk therapy and Art Therapy and no, don't worry, you don't have to draw well.
Congratulations to you for making this first step. I know this isn't the most exciting thing you could be doing, scanning through therapist after therapist, and finding the "perfect fit" is hard. If you're looking for somebody to make you feel like yourself again, or maybe a new version of yourself, you've found her. Whether it be working through depression & anxiety, healing from your past or simply those overwhelming running thoughts that don't seem to stop, I can do my best to help, and if your lucky, maybe share a few laughs along the way too.

I utilize expressive and creative modalities like play and art in addition to more traditional modalities based on your needs, comfort, and developmental needs.
Welcome! Do you feel your child would benefit from a space to process their feelings and learn new skills? Are you in need of an empathetic and understanding ear to help you understand your family more fully? Are you in need of a space for yourself to navigate the messiness of life and engage in self exploration? I aim to provide a space where you, your child, or your family can feel and be human without judgement. I aim to work collaboratively and creatively to work through the barriers that exist with traditional therapeutic approaches. "As no one else can know how we perceive, we are the best experts on ourselves.” - Carl Rogers

Art Therapy

How does art therapy work?

The process of making art allows people to express themselves. Art-making can take many forms, such as painting, collage, or sculpting. The therapist asks questions that the work elicits, such as how the person felt while creating their piece, or if any memories surfaced that they can discuss. The therapist will then work with the patient to process their experience, understand themselves better, and work toward change.

Does art therapy help with trauma?

Art therapy can be a valuable treatment option for those suffering from trauma. Traumatic experiences such as combat, rape, or childhood abuse can be so painful that articulating them can be too scary or painful; creating art allows people to express themselves without words, and tell their story in a different way. The physical nature of creating art can also help people feel rooted in the body, which may benefit those who feel disconnected from their body in the aftermath of trauma.

How long does art therapy last?

The duration of art therapy varies, but a common length for treatment is 10 to 15 weekly sessions. Some people may see improvement in just a few weeks, while others may choose to remain in therapy longer term. Patients should periodically discuss their goals with their therapist to make sure the two are aligned on process and progress.

What are the limitations of art therapy?

Art therapy is helpful for many people, but a limitation is that it doesn’t have as robust an evidence base as other forms of therapy, such as cognitive behavioral therapy or acceptance and commitment therapy. The evidence on art therapy is mixed; some research demonstrates its benefits, while other research suggests that it has little impact on patients.
