I work primarily with adults, but have experience working across the age-spectrum inlcuding children and families. I perceive behavior as communication of unmet needs, and help to identify barriers to meeting these needs. I aim to support clients who struggle in postpartum, severe and persistent mental illness, substance use, trauma, adoption-related issues, depression, anxiety, personality disorders, mood disorders, developmental delay, grief/bereavement, relationship issues, chronic suicidal ideation, and crisis intervention. I specialize in perinatal mental health, and have received training in Perinatal Mood & Anxiety Disorders.

“Daring greatly means the courage to be vulnerable. It means to show up and be seen. To ask for what you need. To talk about how you’re feeling. To have the hard conversations.” - Brene Brown. As a therapist I want to help make the hard conversations a little easier to have. I specialize in working with children, adolescents, and adults who may be impacted by symptoms of depression, anxiety, trauma, perinatal mental health concerns, and substance use. My goal is to help empower my clients to feel confident in being able to utilize healthy coping skills for their current life stressors and mental health symptoms.

My formal education is in art and play therapies with children.
I work primarily with children, adolescents, and their families. However, I additionally work across the age spectrum and throughout the adoption network with adoption-related issues. I see behaviors as communication of unmet needs. As a client-centered therapist, I work to learn where clients have unmet emotional needs, how their family can work to meet those needs, and what barriers there are to that process.

I hope to allow individuals to have a voice though a combination of talk, play, and art modalities.
I understand the anxiety and stresses that life can bring, especially negativing adjustments and change. Through support, there can be profound healing & growth. Navigating childhood, parenting, or the postpartum journey with support can make the greatest impact, knowing you are not alone. I believe individuals need to feel heard, understood, and supported to find healing. I am passionate about helping children, adolescents, and adults find their voice through play and believe change can happen when we feel heard, cared for, and understood.

I help clients achieve this through various therapy tools, like Cognitive Behavioral therapy, Emotion-Focused therapy, art therapy, music, talk therapy, and EMDR.
Only accepting clients ages 19 and up. Do you ever feel like breaking down? Do you ever feel out of place? Like somehow you just don’t belong, and no one understands you? Thanks for the great intro pop punk band Simple Plan. But seriously, have you ever felt any of these things? I know I have. It is hard to have all these sucky feelings and have no one to turn to for support. Unfortunately, many people out there will say “Depressed? Isn’t that just a fancy word for feeling bummed out?”, which I am sure makes you want to scream. That is where I come in!

I am passionate about seeing people achieve inner well-being using an eclectic approach through the theoretical lens of narrative , humanistic and experiential that incorporates consciousness, art therapy, and psychotherapy .
Now accepting clients! If we do not author a love story with ourselves, we may never know the wounds of our own soul. In the safety net of therapy we can show up for ourselves, discover our inner world, learn why we do what we do. In the comfort of knowing ourselves, we find our true belonging. In this eventuality, in the fullness of time, we can belong in this world and show up for others without betraying ourselves. There is a wealth of love and freedom in this way of being. The process of therapy can navigate you towards your most cherished home, yourself. Our relational stories bloom from this place of abundance only.

Art Therapy

How does art therapy work?

The process of making art allows people to express themselves. Art-making can take many forms, such as painting, collage, or sculpting. The therapist asks questions that the work elicits, such as how the person felt while creating their piece, or if any memories surfaced that they can discuss. The therapist will then work with the patient to process their experience, understand themselves better, and work toward change.

Does art therapy help with trauma?

Art therapy can be a valuable treatment option for those suffering from trauma. Traumatic experiences such as combat, rape, or childhood abuse can be so painful that articulating them can be too scary or painful; creating art allows people to express themselves without words, and tell their story in a different way. The physical nature of creating art can also help people feel rooted in the body, which may benefit those who feel disconnected from their body in the aftermath of trauma.

How long does art therapy last?

The duration of art therapy varies, but a common length for treatment is 10 to 15 weekly sessions. Some people may see improvement in just a few weeks, while others may choose to remain in therapy longer term. Patients should periodically discuss their goals with their therapist to make sure the two are aligned on process and progress.

What are the limitations of art therapy?

Art therapy is helpful for many people, but a limitation is that it doesn’t have as robust an evidence base as other forms of therapy, such as cognitive behavioral therapy or acceptance and commitment therapy. The evidence on art therapy is mixed; some research demonstrates its benefits, while other research suggests that it has little impact on patients.
