I also offer art therapy, for both children and adults.
It takes courage to reach out when you feel that you can no longer manage the issues you face by yourself. But by taking this first step to look into counseling, you have already started on that path to change and to living the best version of your life. My approach to counseling comes from my belief that every person has the solutions to their concerns within themselves, and by participating in the therapeutic process they can better access these solutions. As a therapist, I am committed to acting as a guide and facilitator for my clients' self-exploration and empowerment.

We deserve joy and fulfillment in our lives and at times it is hard to reach. Sometimes we need to access deeper parts of ourselves to heal traumatic experiences. This is why I often use experiential therapies in my practice. These are therapies that focus on the way it feels to experience your emotions, not just think about them. When we talk about tough topics, we may focus on what your body feels like, what memories or images come to mind, or how old it makes you feel. We can do this through imagination, movement, or art.

I pair art therapy with evidence-based practices like cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and utilize traditional talk therapy with art therapy depending on a client’s needs and comfort level.
I believe in the healing potential of creative expression. In therapy, engaging in mindful art-making can help to process and express inner experiences or to communicate when words are not enough. I’ve witnessed art-making serve as a powerful tool to process grief and loss, to create meaning through storytelling, and to assist clients in gaining personal clarity. I take a client-centered approach to therapy and adapt my treatment modality to a client’s individual goals and preferences.

Hi, thanks for reading! I'm a Marriage & Family Therapist and Art Therapist with four years of experience. I got my start in my home country of Lebanon, volunteering with art therapy groups for children exposed to war and domestic violence. I believe in "diving deep" into patterns and dynamics at play within your relationship with yourself and others, and love working with couples and families to build healthy communication and understanding beyond the individual level. Feel free to ask about how art therapy can help you express and explore in fresh and unexpected ways.

ART therapy is also an option, offered as a way to express your self non-verbally.
I view all my clients like they are a mirror image of myself. I see my work as being employed by you to help you get where you want to go. I am an experiential therapist Very different practice from what's out there today. CBT, DBT, TFT, EFT, EMDR and more are integrated into your experience. Therapy should be an experience of growth and revelation about "self" and not just a conversation. Tools should be the takeaway and integration into daily life the goal.

Another big part of my practice is using Art Therapy to encourage clients to feel comfortable and able to express themselves on many levels.
I thoroughly enjoy helping clients to be authentically themselves within a safe and comfortable space. Each person is unique in their own way, and because of this they may need a unique approach in therapy. I look at the therapeutic relationship as a team, we can collaborate together to work on any issues that may be troublesome. Transparency is an important part of the therapeutic relationship, and I encourage it on both sides in order to create a non-judgmental space.

As an art therapist, I aspire to pair traditional psychotherapy techniques with the visual nature of art therapy. The creative process of art therapy is an additional way for clients with or without artistic backgrounds to express themselves and achieve a heightened sense of self. This helps pave the pathway for personal growth across a multitude of issues.

Art Therapy

How does art therapy work?

The process of making art allows people to express themselves. Art-making can take many forms, such as painting, collage, or sculpting. The therapist asks questions that the work elicits, such as how the person felt while creating their piece, or if any memories surfaced that they can discuss. The therapist will then work with the patient to process their experience, understand themselves better, and work toward change.

Does art therapy help with trauma?

Art therapy can be a valuable treatment option for those suffering from trauma. Traumatic experiences such as combat, rape, or childhood abuse can be so painful that articulating them can be too scary or painful; creating art allows people to express themselves without words, and tell their story in a different way. The physical nature of creating art can also help people feel rooted in the body, which may benefit those who feel disconnected from their body in the aftermath of trauma.

How long does art therapy last?

The duration of art therapy varies, but a common length for treatment is 10 to 15 weekly sessions. Some people may see improvement in just a few weeks, while others may choose to remain in therapy longer term. Patients should periodically discuss their goals with their therapist to make sure the two are aligned on process and progress.

What are the limitations of art therapy?

Art therapy is helpful for many people, but a limitation is that it doesn’t have as robust an evidence base as other forms of therapy, such as cognitive behavioral therapy or acceptance and commitment therapy. The evidence on art therapy is mixed; some research demonstrates its benefits, while other research suggests that it has little impact on patients.
