I incorporate mindfulness when appropriate with clients, to practice the art of letting go, managing stress and anxiety.
Therapy is where you come to reflect on life decisions and experiences and I am here for you through those moments. I would describe a session as being insightful and meaningful even if it is in subtle ways. We may spend some time talking about your daily life, or big things; some days it may feel like a big breakthrough happened and others, a casual conversation. All the things brought up are important to allow you and I to build a therapeutic relationship and to feel comfortable. Everything that you talk about contributes to your growth, even if it is not tangible yet.

I use several powerful tools: Human Design, NLP, EFT, and simple art therapy techniques to help my clients get right at the root of the issue quickly and transform it there.
What makes you unique? Why are you here, and why do you feel clarity and confidence with some people (and in certain situations) and with others it's a struggle? No, there's nothing 'wrong' with you, and I know how it can feel that way, especially when things get challenging. My specialty is showing you what's "right" about you and offering grounded, practical tools you can use right away to transform your inner world and your outer results with loved ones and on the job. I especially love working with professionals who would like to feel successful in ALL areas of their life, not just at home or at work.

Throughout life there are many things we are in control of, however there are also things we may not have control over. Experiencing this feeling of no control can manifest itself in anxiety, depression, loss of self, or even impact relationships with those around you. Whether it's due to your upbringing, the environment, or traumatic experiences, the constant fight to regain power and control of your life again can be exhausting, overwhelming and isolating. Therapy is that helping hand that can guide you on your healing journey and path to self-discovery. It can also be your safe place to rest and just be.

I view therapy as an opportunity to recognize the strengths of each person, the uniqueness of each story, and to find ways to use those strengths to create change and growth. I enjoy having the chance to walk alongside people through all types of challenges and triumphs as a willing listener who can provide empathy, a non-judgmental view on current and past experiences, and support to work towards meeting goals.

Whatever you are going through, you shouldn't have to go through it alone. Sometimes, we encounter barriers that can keep us from living the joyous life we deserve. Maybe those barriers include: depression, anxiety, or trauma reactions. Perhaps you need help on building your skills, strengths, resiliency, and emotional awareness to cope with the various challenges throughout life. Or, maybe you want the tools to align your life with your values and vision. Even though painful, difficult experiences are inevitable, that does not mean we can't live our best lives, or be our most authentic and fulfilled selves.

My passion is people and the therapeutic effect of authentic human connection. It's from a socially safe platform that we begin to really heal. By exploring the lens we're used to, we make space for new perspectives. Learning how you're wired creates opportunity make decisions about what you think, how you feel and what you can and are willing to do about it in order to connect to the self and heal. My clinical lens is rooted in the understanding of and respect for the gut-brain/heart-immune-mind axis, making my approach truly holistic. People deserve to be fed while learning to fish and I love treating people, not diseases.

No one wakes up so happy that they decide to change their life. You are suffering in some way and want to do something about it. That's a great place to start our work. I'm a down to earth counselor that will use plain language and, (when appropriate), humor while we do that work. Do you have trouble being assertive with others? Are you feeling stuck or in need of a plan? Having trouble achieving what you want? Disorganized?

I specialize in treating trauma, anxiety, self esteem, SUD, and struggles related to life transitions. I help clients find the solid ground they need to support forward movement and a more positive trajectory. I begin by working with clients in developing a deeper understanding of themselves to arm them with the knowledge necessary to address their problems and make changes necessary to develop more adaptive coping strategies and improve the quality of their lives. I am non-judgmental and work to create a space in which clients can freely explore, uncover, and accept themselves more fully to live fuller, more meaningful lives.

Calm relationships and controlled responses should not be luxuries reserved for those with unlimited time and money. Learn to return yourself to a life of reason, without the internal voices of judgment, distraction, and indecision propelling you through sleepless nights and physical and emotional pain. It's time to quiet the chaos - in your mind, in your life, and in your world. Integrate your brain - Eliminate the chaos.

Art Therapy

How does art therapy work?

The process of making art allows people to express themselves. Art-making can take many forms, such as painting, collage, or sculpting. The therapist asks questions that the work elicits, such as how the person felt while creating their piece, or if any memories surfaced that they can discuss. The therapist will then work with the patient to process their experience, understand themselves better, and work toward change.

Does art therapy help with trauma?

Art therapy can be a valuable treatment option for those suffering from trauma. Traumatic experiences such as combat, rape, or childhood abuse can be so painful that articulating them can be too scary or painful; creating art allows people to express themselves without words, and tell their story in a different way. The physical nature of creating art can also help people feel rooted in the body, which may benefit those who feel disconnected from their body in the aftermath of trauma.

How long does art therapy last?

The duration of art therapy varies, but a common length for treatment is 10 to 15 weekly sessions. Some people may see improvement in just a few weeks, while others may choose to remain in therapy longer term. Patients should periodically discuss their goals with their therapist to make sure the two are aligned on process and progress.

What are the limitations of art therapy?

Art therapy is helpful for many people, but a limitation is that it doesn’t have as robust an evidence base as other forms of therapy, such as cognitive behavioral therapy or acceptance and commitment therapy. The evidence on art therapy is mixed; some research demonstrates its benefits, while other research suggests that it has little impact on patients.
