I was trained as an art therapist and a relational-cultural therapist.
The therapeutic relationship we will form creates a space where you can explore your life with greater curiosity, hope and accountability than you may be able to on your own. I tend to be a good fit for folks who want a space to reflect and also explore new ways of approaching persistent challenges. I balance asking questions with providing tools to try that I believe may work for you. My goal is to help you live the life that feels best for you and I respect the myriad of paths and approaches your best life may take.

*I currently have no openings.* So much of the stress and pain we experience in life is rooted in relationships, but we also find healing in relationships. In our relationship as counselor and client, we can process unmet needs, the feelings that lie beneath, and patterns in relationships. Together, we can explore new ways of being and un-learn the defense mechanisms you needed to survive but are no longer serving you well. With this new awareness, ownership of your experiences and needs, and self compassion comes agency, change, and healing.

Children are encouraged to come, do their work, engage in music, art and play therapy! Let's create!.
We could all benefit from support at times. Someone who is willing to listen. Someone to provide an outside perspective. We can work together to help you stay connected to your positive parenting skills, your need to find calm or perhaps work through a past trauma. You may be at the beginning of a journey, in the middle or further along. Wherever you are, connect with someone who provides encouragement and perspective. Children and families are welcome! We live in an ever changing world. Let's do something to help strengthen our foundation...for life!

I recognize that talk therapy may not be a great fit for everyone and often use music, art, sand tray, movement, or storytelling as tools to help clients work through what may not be easily verbally accessible.
I believe that much of the distress that people experience stems from a disconnection from various parts of themselves, whether due to trauma, shame, or social conditioning. I aim to help people reconnect with those parts and integrate so that each part has a healthy way of expressing itself. I also draw from existential and feminist psychology, seeking to help individuals own the power and choices available to them to create their most meaningful, authentic life. I do not believe it's enough to merely remove suffering but seek to help my clients truly thrive in wholeness and well-being.

Life presents challenges sometimes. Learning how to access our resiliency, explore negative thought patterns, and strengthen new positive beliefs assists us in creating and maintaining a thriving daily life. I use therapy methods that help bridge communication with children, youth and adults. I hold also hold BA in studio art that contributes to the creativity element of my work with individuals.

I'd be happy to answer questions regarding art therapy, tele-health and my approach to psychotherapy.
*** I am no longer accepting new clients at this time*** We are living in a very trying time punctuated by losses big and small. For some, this period of time has highlighted areas of personal growth that they wish to focus on or change they wish to embrace. Others may find themselves struggling with stress, anxiety and grief and are seeking some new coping strategies or some support while dusting off the skills they already have. Regardless of your reasons for seeking support, I'm here to help via tele-sessions over a secure network.

At this time, I am NOT taking new clients. I only offer "telehealth" video-counseling and art therapy sessions through my web-based client portal so that my current clients can stay home and lower public risk during this time of the Covid19 pandemic. We are advised to remain at home and reduce contact with each other so that our medical providers can stay ahead of the growing demand for care - this is a highly contagious disease and we all owe it to those people who are at high risk to do everything we can to slow the spread of this disease.

There is a light at the end of the tunnel. Life happens, so it helps to have a person who will really listen, without judgement. Especially in these difficult times, life's challenges can become overwhelming. In therapy, people develop skills for managing emotions and relationships, reclaiming their self-worth and confidence. We become able to lay down our heavy burdens and feel lighter, heal the places that were hurt, and find a way back to our true selves. Therapy can be about developing a wise inner compass, and building skills and strategies for positive growth and change.

With children, I employ expressive art therapies and play therapy.
I believe in everyone's innate capacity to heal. Everyone deserves a safe and supportive therapeutic environment which can allow one to connect to all parts of oneself and lead to a greater capacity for self awareness and self compassion. Creating this space of safety, trust and unconditional regard for my client guides all my interactions and interventions. We will work collaboratively to explore how your family history, life experiences and current stressors contribute to the issues that bring you to therapy so that you can begin to shift unhelpful patterns of thoughts and behavior that are holding you back in life.

It may look like a craft class, but art therapy in 05404 is a serious technique that uses the creative process to help improve the mental health of clients. 05404 Art therapy can be used on children and adults to treat a wide range of emotional issues, including anxiety, depression, family and relationship problems, abuse and domestic violence, and trauma and loss. Commonly found in hospitals and community centers, art therapy programs are based on the belief that the creative process is healing and life-enhancing. As they paint or draw, a skilled 05404 art therapist can use the client's works of art and their approach to the process as springboards to help them gain personal insight, improve their judgment, cope with stress, and work through traumatic experiences.
