Arryn Hawthorne, LCSW, Clinical Social Work/Therapist in Chicago
Do you have a medical condition that is affecting your day to day life? Or are you caring for someone who is ill? Managing illness affects our overall sense of purpose, and ability to function as we would like. Whether the diagnosis is new or you have been managing for a while, I will work with you to develop your strengths while honoring the challenges that have led you to therapy. I am committed to staying curious, listening and making space for humor. I will collaborate with you to find ways to live the most fulfilling life possible.
My clinical expertise and interests include grief (including pet loss), aging, care giving, chronic conditions like HIV, cancer, diabetes, hypertension, substance abuse, chronic pain, depression, mood disorders and anxiety. I also have extensive experience working with LGBTQ people and have a particular interest in supporting partners of trans & GNC people.
I have worked in multiple healthcare settings and gained a keen awareness of the emotional effects of chronic and terminal illness on people. I work with caregivers and with people who have chronic illness. My pronouns: she/her/hers or they/them/theirs.
