I believe that a supportive therapeutic relationship can be the springboard from which many life issues can be addressed and healed. I am warm and gentle, yet firm when appropriate. I am encouraging, nurturing and have a deep capacity for empathy. I am committed to your growth and the changes you want to make in your life. Issues I treat include anxiety, depression, trauma recovery, and relationships. I treat children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families. I have special expertise in working with personal and collective trauma, deepening intimacy in couples, cross-cultural relationships, grief and mourning and healing friendships.

I am also an experiential therapist. I sometimes might use creative methods such as role playing and expressive arts processes to help empower you. I use these tools gently and with permission to work with you to get through painful life issues and move towards a more fulfilling life.

I am Clinical Director of the Living Arts Counseling Center in Oakland and Emeryville and direct a training program for interns who offer low-fee therapy to the community. I have also developed innovative programs that use action methods for social change, intercultural conflict transformation and intercultural communication.

Waking Dream & Playback Theatre

Exploring and Interweaving Personal Story & A Collective Dream World Through Drama--Practice & Performance. Playback Theatre skills will be taught and interwoven with Waking Dream Theatre processes and techniques. The series will culminate in a performance in front of an invited audience integrating the forms that have been imparted with music, movement and creative ritual. This training is for actors, teachers, therapists or anyone interested in creating art from the specific and universal in our experience.
