By combining traditional psychotherapy with various "body-based" techniques I specialized in "somatic psychotherapy," an effective holistic practice helping client needs ranging from trauma to common challenges of depression, anxiety, grief, and relationship issues.
Let's face it, life events shape our present, and contribute to a loss of connection to ourselves, family, others, and the world. A recovered sense-of-self is essential for empowerment to face these issues. And, because this disconnect initially occurs in earliest childhood, traditional "talk" therapy alone is an insufficient approach. I am a therapist shaped by a myriad of life roles and events. I intentionally sought a PhD in clinical psychology with a specialization in "somatic psychology" to underscore my own therapeutic experience. Somatic psychology studies how the "body" informs and provides clues to our emotional responses linked to childhood.

I’m glad you are looking for someone to talk to! Maybe you are experiencing major life changes, struggling with depression or anxiety, dealing with trauma or relationship wounds, or just feeling stuck or in “auto-pilot” mode. Whatever is bringing you to therapy, I want to reassure you that I am ready to sit with you, listen with my whole heart, and help you work towards the goals you have (and you decide those). Together we will work to forge a path of more peace, connection, and fulfillment with yourself and in your life. I believe we all need a space to process life and I am honored to get to be a part of that healing process.

My goal as a therapist is to assist clients navigating the difficult path through trauma and stress. Working in partnership with clients, I first seek to understand where they are on that path and how they got there. Then I seek to help people develop a greater awareness of their body’s autonomic reactions to stress, so they are less consumed by their thoughts and emotions, and are able to regain their sense of safety and control.

My initial approach to working with individuals is to look at matters through a trauma -informed/focused & attachment theory based lens.
How many times have you been told you are too sensitive? You're too dramatic? Or maybe you've been told that you shouldn't feel a certain way. Repeatedly, you might have been silenced & led to believe that your feelings/thoughts are not valid. Even more, perhaps you feel as if you don't matter...that you might as well be invisible. Every part of that is false, I promise. It's time for you to advocate for yourself & take up space in this world. You deserve to be heard, seen, & known. Despite what you've suffered, you are here for a reason. Discovering hope, acceptance, purpose, meaning, & peace in your life is yours to own & embrace.

I specialize in trauma treatment, identity exploration, life transitions, and complex family dynamics.
Identity exploration is the heart of transformative therapy. You absolutely deserve to feel grounded in who you are, and it is my privilege to help clients explore the patterns or hardships causing inner turmoil. People often come to me with histories of emotional abuse, difficult upbringings, or toxic romantic relationships. Some feel stuck or alone in their current circumstances, and they want help navigating a tender transition. The introspective nature of therapy can be vulnerable, but the healing is often profound. Wherever you are on your journey, I will strive to help you build a more authentic and meaningful life.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
