I offer
PACT
, Psychobiological Approach to Couples Therapy, Level 3 for couples issues, specially cross-cultural marriages.
After 30 years of experience doing therapy in the US and other countries, I have several tools in my toolbox. I use a variety of approaches and techniques such as hypnosis, cognitive therapy,
PACT
, emotionally focused therapy, mindfulness, among others. I have been very interested in how to help couples to have better relationships: how their past affect their relationship and how they can let go of their past and create the life, and relationship they want for themselves.

In addition, I've studied with Stan Tatkin, of
PACT
and Harville Hendrix of IMAGO.
Combining gentleness, strength, and evidence-based approaches with an intuitive understanding, is at the heart of my work. I use inner and outer resources to support people, and a little laughter and irony along the way. Attending to banished voices, lost dreams, inner-child work, saboteurs, and avoidance helps in getting people where they want to go. I utilize EMDR, have worked in grief support and inpatient. In addition, applying well-known factors in the neuropsychology of learning optimizes change. In practice, it all comes together using structure, flow, and clinical assessment.

Throughout our clinical experience at Better Lives Building Tribes (BLBT), we have learned that people are learning the most about themselves through their interactions with other people. But interactions with other people are complicated and people often need help navigating conflict, conflict resolution, and setting boundaries amidst already struggling self-esteem and self-worth. How we feel about ourselves has everything to do with our ability to defend ourselves, verbalize our own needs, and come up with creative solutions to our interpersonal hurdles. If you find yourself having difficulties with others, we are here to help.

“Family dysfunction rolls from generation to generation like a fire in the woods taking down everything in its path until one person, in one generation, has the courage to turn and face the flames. That person brings peace to his ancestors and spares the children that follow.” — Terry Real. Taking a step towards therapy is an act of bravery. An act that can begin to open up space for healing in your life or in your relationships.

As a Counselor and Coach in long term recovery from both substance and process addictions, I've received support from some very special humans who've lit the way for me to peer into the areas of my path that I was either denying or just couldn't see from an objective perspective (yet). After a career as a marketing professional, I'm grateful to have transitioned into providing the work that's helped me come to terms with life and my place in it; work that feeds my soul and shines the light on those dark places so many of us are afraid to venture into alone. Together, we can explore and make meaning of what's happened for you.

You are baffled. With all you have accomplished, this problem has thrown you for a loop. You don’t know where to turn. Who is to blame? Is it them or is it me? It’s easy to see what others have done wrong. Sometimes you feel if they changed, the problem would go away. Other times you wonder where you have gone wrong. Sometimes you lose control of your emotions and lash out at them or get down on yourself. Perhaps you are facing a divorce, the loss of a job, the breakup of a family business, adult children who blame you for their struggles or your struggle to find a love match or the perfect job. How do I find my way through this

Mental health is relational health. We never feel good when in conflict with our partner (or in conflict with our own emotions). I enjoy helping my clients experience themselves more deeply, more kindly, and in providing support with life's challenges and losses. I help with issues around anxiety, depression, men's issues, unhelpful coping strategies, and relational health. My therapy includes emotional mindfulness, spiritual perspectives, trauma recovery, and practical and relational skills for partnership and parenting.

All of us are having normal nervous system responses of survival in a time that seems very abnormal and unusual. There are many unexpected issues that are coming to the surface in this time of global crisis and trauma. With the additional demands and stressors brought about by Covid 19, most need trauma-responsive care and support. I utilize a variety of bottom up techniques that engage the nervous system and partner with the physical body to allow for resolution of traumas. This is coupled with traditional top down talk therapy techniques to foster improved social engagement and empowerment.

Are you hurt and angry about the DISCOVERY or DISCLOSURE of your partner's or spouse's SEXUAL SECRETS? Have some of the things you once trusted and relied upon in life later proven to be false or been buried beneath layers and layers of deception? Do you know the experience of wanting stability as you attempt to stand on the shifting sands of overwhelming uncertainty? Your distress is valid and what you're feeling is quite normal, and yet it's all incredibly disconcerting. Fortunately, you do have someone to talk to. I'll listen, answer your questions, and help guide you through this difficult time. I hope you'll give us a call!

My heart centers around seeing each individual, couple and family become more whole, more connected to self and others, and ultimately connected to their spiritual core self. Each human being has been created with purpose and meaning. My belief is that pain comes in when deep truths become misconstrued due to various messages we've received or created from our brokenness, trauma, loss, and/or choices. I desire to walk alongside with people to help identify these messages or other origins of pain, and triumph past it.

How can I find a therapist in Arizona?
Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Is online therapy a good option?
Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.
What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?
Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.
What type of therapist is right for me?
Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.
Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?
The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.
What type of therapy is right for me?
The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.
Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?
Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
