Every person is a unique individual who relates to the world in a different way. My goal is to form a collaborative relationship with each person that leads to self-discovery and growth. The therapeutic process is about each individual person's unique experience with their own symptoms and behaviors. My commitment to each person I see is to help resolve unwanted thoughts, feelings, or behaviors that may cause pain. I utilize a non-judgmental approach, which includes warmth, empathy, and an open mind.
My experience includes treatment of many different types of issues and developmental disabilities, including anxiety, depression, and autism spectrum disorders. I have also worked with individuals undergoing difficult life transitions or experiencing trauma-related symptoms.
I have a background in the arts, and I enjoy working with both children and adults interested in the expressive arts as a form of therapy. I understand that seeking and asking for help can be difficult, and I strive to facilitate a warm and comforting environment for each person.

Arica VanGelderen's Groups

Individuality is Art: A Creative Group for Teens

This group is focused on exploring individual identity through creativity. Each participant has the freedom to explore and create within any artistic medium (or multiple media) they choose in an open, accepting, and safe space. My role as facilitator includes fostering meaningful connections between participants and providing engaging creative exercises geared toward positive identity development (including self-confidence, self-worth, and self-esteem). The group meets every week for ninety minutes, and currently planned to be ongoing throughout the year.
