I believe healing happens when you make a connection with another person where you can be yourself, feel valued, listened to, and cared for. Working with a therapist can be a way to access the healing you desire and deserve. In our work together we can look at ALL the aspects of you, without judgement (even the parts you don't LOVE). When the totality of you is allowed to be seen, heard and cared for, a shift happens--that's where the healing happens. While you don't need to do a "Big Dig" to examine your past, you CAN change the way the past impacts the present. If you're up for making art, that's great--and it's not required.
I work with couples & individuals, especially around anxiety, depression, and trauma. As a former high school teacher, I have an affinity for adolescents. I trained in Focusing, a somatic mindfulness technique. Combining Focusing with Art Therapy provides a powerful way through what is troubling you into an enhanced, healthy, life. I also facilitate groups.
I have completed post-graduate certificate training in Art Therapy for healing trauma. I can provide therapy in American Sign Language. I have a strengths-based model, identifying what IS working, increasing insight, and building resilience so you can successfully navigate what isn't working. You CAN feel better and I'd be honored to work with you!
