Welcome to my page! I am proud of you for taking the first steps to start or continue your healing journey. I graduated from Northwestern University with an MA in Mental Health Counseling. My ideal client is focused on personal growth and healing. I specialize in depression and anxiety disorders, as well as ADHD, and I have expertise with the other issues mentioned in the side bar. My goal is to provide you with tools that you can utilize outside of our therapy sessions. I incorporate humor and warmth into each session, and I strive to help you to live a life that leaves you excited to wake up every morning.

We often move through life carrying wounds that prevent us from living life fully. I value providing you with a safe, judgment free zone, where you can embark on a personal journey to deeply explore and heal from the issues that have fueled your life struggles. I take special interest in treating trauma stemming from either childhood or adulthood as well as relationship difficulties including attachment patterns and relationship compatibility. I am also well versed in a wide array of mental health issues including depression, anxiety, sleep, and body image issues.

You feel alone, misunderstood and anxious about showing up as your full, authentic self. You feel emotionally disconnected from loved ones because they don’t get you anymore. Or maybe they never did. You find yourself searching for meaning in life while trying to understand who you are and where you belong. You feel lost and terrified. Those around you don’t understand, nor do they see how much you’re struggling. You’ve become good at hiding how you really feel. Sometimes you feel others may be better off without you. You're close to giving up, but you want to make a change. You long to be understood and accepted, and to belong.

I am happy to see you via video sessions (only) during this time. My name is Hebah (pronounced Hib-a), and I am excited you found my profile. Therapy is about discussing your problems, but that’s only the beginning. When you develop a relationship with an empathic, attuned therapist, you will find your inherent strength, heal old emotional wounds, discover new ways to solve problems and change how you live your life. I am a bilingual (English/Arabic) therapist with over ten years of psychotherapy experience. I use a straightforward, gentle, respectful, non-blaming, culturally sensitive approach to counseling.

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor, by the State Board of Marriage and Family Therapy Examiners of the State of New Jersey. I hold a Master degree in Clinical Counseling from William Paterson University. Providing a supportive and safe space for the process of healing to occur is of the utmost importance to me as a therapist. I serve adults who may be struggling with mood and/or personality disorders. Those include but are not limited to: depression, anxiety, adjustment disorders including PTSD, substance use, grief and loss, self-growth, relationships and interpersonal stressors and domestic violence.

Dr. Shirin Zarqa-Lederman is a counseling psychologist specializing in trauma services and community psychology, holding a PhD in the field. She is a licensed professional counselor (LPC) and licensed clinical drug and alcohol counselor (LCADC) based in New Jersey, working with clients globally. Prior to establishing her private practice, Dr. Shirin was a program coordinator for a NJ adolescent substance abuse program, where she developed treatment curriculum for group and family therapy. Later, she worked as a community liaison for this program and three others in New York, coordinating psychiatric and substance abuse care.
