Life is a journey. Sometimes we must take the road less traveled to get to our destination. The road less traveled for many has been acknowledging they need help and taking the steps to seek help. I meet each client wherever they are on that road to life's journey. I believe each of us has the innate ability to reach our full potential. I view counseling as a collaborative relationship where we work as a team to explore the current problematic issues and develop goals for an improved life toward realizing those goals. / may focus on patterns of thoughts, behaviors, moods, and relationships that are important to you - the client.

My hope is to help others live their lives experiencing joy, peace, and freedom. There are times when life gets difficult, hurt occurs, or struggles come along side you; and in those times it can be difficult to recognize your own strength, what you are capable of, and blessings around you. I work with my clients to help them find hope, healing, and restoration. I counsel clients of all ages who are having issues with depression, anxiety, anger, adjustment, grief, trauma, crisis of faith, and relational problems.

I'm so glad you are here! If you are ready to make some changes in life that are likely to result in improved mental health, improved quality of life, and general well being; you came to the right place! My approach in counseling is in general to look at the person as a whole; not as their symptoms of problems. I use holistic, solution focused, and trauma informed models to work together to create a unique plan to reach your personal goals. I learn towards techniques that help individuals free up emotional stress, live a more intentional life, and move towards more effective communication with those important to them.

One of my favorite quotes is by C.S. Lewis - "You can't go back and change the beginning, but you can start where you are and change the ending". For 30 years I have had the privilege to witness first hand the healing and growth that can take place through hard work and courage. It has been one of the greatest blessings of my life to see people thrive after great hardships, pain and loss.

People may be dealing with family stresses such as a result of a job loss. Perhaps a child trying to cope with bullying issues. Or maybe battling depression, anxiety, addictions or other traumas. Many experience emotions too difficult to discuss. This leaves some feeling so low that nothing matters anymore. Unable to see a way out of the darkness they feel stuck, helpless, and hopeless. But there is hope.

I have worked with a wide range of people on a number of different issues. The majority has been depression and anxiety, but I have helped people with various mental health challenges that people face. In working with anyone, my main focus is on seeing the issue from their perspective and helping them overcome it or develop ways of coping. In seeking out therapy, for most people, there is a fear of engaging in it. A person that is able to start, participate, and finish therapy are brave people.

"Happiness can be found even in the darkest of times if one only remembers to turn on the light." — Albus Dumbledore. I consider clients to be experts in their own lives, clients know what suggestions sound appealing to them to help deal with problems in life. We may not always be able to change the outcome of our situations in life, though we certainly can help how we respond to problems that arise. I want to showcase to clients that change is possible, regardless of the circumstances that they may be facing, growth is possible to help us heal from our worries.

Let’s face it. Life is hard. Problems can be complex. You have tried so hard to solve your problems but nothing has worked. Now you are considering therapy or maybe you have tried therapy before and it just did not work. Perhaps you thought your therapist just did not care. I have taught undergraduate counseling students the motto I practice with my clients, “ People don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care.” I care deeply about each of my clients. My all consuming desire is to help you deal with your problems and be happy again. I offer hope and my best efforts. It would like to accompany you on your journey.

I am NOT taking new clients at this time. Stop the Pain. Do you worry that others can see that you are barely hanging on despite your best efforts? Sometimes accomplished people feel they are crumbling under the strain of expectations they have for themselves. You do not need to feel this way. Depression, anxiety and chronic pain do not have to control every waking minute of your life. There is help and hope.

All of us, at one time or another, need a little guidance in navigating life. I work with children, adolescents, and adults with anxiety, depression, addiction, stress, and everyday life issues. How can I find a therapist in Union County?

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.

Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
