I'm an experienced therapist including twenty years with University of Arkansas. I specialize in working with adults and college students. I see individuals, couples, and families dealing with depression, anxiety, relationship issues, crises of all kinds, self-esteem problems, and sexual dysfunction. I am solution focused and will do my best to help you feel comfortable. My philosophy is that most everyone can use counseling at some point in their lives and that it is often the stronger person who seeks help. I offer a free initial consultation. I believe we are all writing chapters in our lives which make up our story. I believe our stories are powerful, unique, and deserve the opportunity to be heard. There may be times when a chapter in our story needs some assistance with editing or revising. Sometimes, we may not feel ready to write the next line or scared of what the previous chapter meant. It is natural to experience pain as well as joy during life. It is not, however, natural to remain in a state of suffering. I have been a practicing clinical psychologist since 1979. I can personally attest to how much I have improved as a therapist with that thirty years of experience. I have learned how important it is to help an individual find their own solutions to their unique problems. I do this in a context of cognitive behavioral therapy, as this approach has been proven to be as effective in the treatment of anxiety and depressive disorders as medication.

Or watched a perfect alley-oop slam dunk by a professional basketball player and wondered how that kind of skill comes about? To answer those questions one needs to examine all the relevant contributing factors. Similarly, to understand your unique situation, one needs to adopt a comprehensive, ecological model to create/access effective change points. You, the rose and the slam dunk are all part of vast complex systems.
