including Alaska, providing me with a deeper understanding of different beliefs about life, spirituality , and death among different people.
It is natural to experience pain as well as joy during life. It is not, however, natural to remain in a state of suffering. I believe we are meant to live happy, joyful lives within a background of inner peace. Sometimes life's circumstances throw us off balance and professional help is needed to find our way back. That's what I do, that's my purpose, to help others regain, or possibly even discover for the first time that life is not to be feared or dreaded because of hurtful emotions.

Have you ever felt like the hits just keep on coming and the suffering seems relentless? You are not alone. I believe life is like a stained glass window. While, the broken pieces of glass are painfully sharp and seem purposeless, these shattered pieces are made beautiful when held in the light. Personally, I believe in the context of therapeutic relationship, brokenness can begin to be restored. As a counselor, I value safety and relational connection which I actively integrate in my sessions. I specialize in joining others who have anxiety disorders, depression, grief and loss, spirituality and attachment wounds.

My core skills include EMDR for treating trauma, couples counseling, cognitive-behavioral therapy, mindfulness meditation, and integration of religion and spirituality .
You've been in an office all day, and probably the last thing you want to do is go to another office and talk about problems. My goal is to do therapy differently when possible, whether that means going outdoors and taking a walk or meeting from the comfort of your own home via secured telehealth. Either way, you'll experience evidence-based treatment in a new way. Check out my website for more about what to expect. If you need one-on-one care, we can do that. If you're on a budget, check out my Jaunts, which incorporate hiking and groups at a lower rate.

Vineyard Counseling is a practice located in Northwest Arkansas that operates from a faith-based perspective while employing clinical theory and techniques to serve clients. Whether it is marital or family conflict, depression or anxiety, my hope for clients is that they not merely see their life experiences and struggles as problems to be "fixed", but as a process of being formed and changed in the innermost dimensions of the heart. My hope in therapy is that biblical wisdom and clinical expertise guide the counseling process.

Are you feeling stuck? Is anxiety and depression keeping you down? Are you struggling with addiction, grief, loss, spiritual issues, personal/relational conflict, adhd/autism problems? These things can create profound sources of pain and sorrow that prevent us from reaching our goals, dreams, and desires. It can be life-giving to have someone in our corner who champions our growth by helping us navigate the complexity of our story, and finding ways to craft new ones.

My life feels like chaos! How can I get past my past? How can I save my marriage? How can I achieve my goals in life? These are common issues that bring people into counseling. To borrow a quote from coach Wooden "although there is no progress without change, not all change is progress." Getting started can feel uncomfortable at first but usually as you proceed most people are engaged, energized, and feeling the benefits. My style is such that it does not feel like therapy--rather someone you know who has been down this road as well.

I would love to talk with you and together discover your full potential and purpose in life. Sometimes that means looking back from where you are now to discover the barriers standing in your way. From personal experience, I believe it is never too late to discover a better way to do life. Joining you in your personal journey in discovering this joy and purpose, would be an honor. I believe that my life experience adds to my training as a counselor to help me be empathic and understanding of clients.

Sometimes trying to feel better feels hopeless. No matter what you do or try, your anxiety just won't go away. The depression keeps hitting you like waves in the ocean, coming up over and over again. Or maybe it's one of your most important relationships. You just can't seem to figure things out with your partner. No matter what parenting technique you try, you just can't seem to get through to your teenager. I don't know exactly where you are at today, but I do know how it can be intimidating to ask for help.

I believe in creating a safe place is that allows opportunity to build trust and connection. Openning up can be scary, stressful and difficult. As you to learn skills and self understanding you increase confindence as well as success. Changing thoughts and perspective will allow you to gain control over old fears and habits. Life experiences, big and small, can leave scars on us which can be labelled as anxiety, depression or trauma. Traumatic events such as accidents, illness, abuse or major loses can create a sense of numbing or shutting down that make it difficult to experience happiness or even relaxation.

Hi there! I’m so glad you’re searching for the support you need and deserve. As a therapist, I believe that you are the expert in your own experience. I love working with clients who are willing to do the hard work of digging into the emotions and beliefs that keep us stuck in cycles of stress. My biggest passion is helping clients dismantle shame. I am a firm believer that we have all been directly affected by shameful messages about food, our bodies, and our sexuality, and I want for everyone to be able to experience freedom in these areas.

Spirituality Therapists

What should I expect from therapy that incorporates a focus on spirituality?

Spirituality can mean different things to different individuals, depending on their experiences, beliefs, and life histories. Some individuals focus on strengthening their belief system, while others experience spirituality in secular ways, such as through meditation, yoga, or by spending time in nature. Clients can expect a therapist to help guide and grow their spirituality through any of these techniques, encouraging the individual to cope with the challenges they face and develop strategies to build resilience and purpose to improve their outlook in life.

What are the most common treatments that include spirituality?

There are several treatments that incorporate spirituality. Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy (MBCT) helps a person examine and reframe their negative thoughts and behaviors. Acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) focuses on emotional acceptance and psychological flexibility. Existential therapy is most often used to address anxiety, depression, grief, loneliness, apathy, despair, questions of identity, and feelings of purposelessness and existential dread. Transpersonal therapy focuses on a client’s spirituality and meaning in life and may incorporate techniques including meditation, visualization, hypnotherapy, dream analysis, and or breathwork.

Can therapy incorporating spirituality help atheistic or agnostic individuals?

Yes. For non-believers, spirituality can offer benefits including a greater sense of connection to others and to the natural world. An interest in spirituality may also spur individuals to pursue mindfulness practices, or to contemplate their purpose in life and how to achieve it.

How effective is spirituality as a therapeutic remedy?

Research suggests spirituality is generally beneficial for individuals. It is correlated with better health habits, such as less substance use, and an improved capacity to cope with stress and other mental health challenges. Increased spirituality can lead individuals to become more empathic and less materialistic, as well.
