Have you ever felt like the hits just keep on coming and the suffering seems relentless? You are not alone. I believe life is like a stained glass window. While, the broken pieces of glass are painfully sharp and seem purposeless, these shattered pieces are made beautiful when held in the light. Personally, I believe in the context of therapeutic relationship, brokenness can begin to be restored. As a counselor, I value safety and relational connection which I actively integrate in my sessions. I specialize in joining others who have anxiety disorders, depression, grief and loss , spirituality and attachment wounds.

People consider therapy for a variety of reasons & I'm here to help through NWA Therapy's team. My experience working in a hospice setting has helped me learn so much to support and counsel someone as they journey through grief and loss . My work in dialysis has informed me on strategies to help patients manage the emotional stress of chronic illness & medical concerns. Work in a psychiatric hospital exposed me to patients struggling with significant mental health problems. I want to partner with you as we work together through the struggles of life including depression, grief , loss , anxiety, stress, trauma, and life transitions.

I work with those dealing with Trauma, Stress, Grief , Depression, Anxiety, and Relational difficulties.
My life feels like chaos! How can I get past my past? How can I save my marriage? How can I achieve my goals in life? These are common issues that bring people into counseling. To borrow a quote from coach Wooden "although there is no progress without change, not all change is progress." Getting started can feel uncomfortable at first but usually as you proceed most people are engaged, energized, and feeling the benefits. My style is such that it does not feel like therapy--rather someone you know who has been down this road as well.

I am a caring counselor with 15 years of experience working with children of all ages and backgrounds. I have helped kids through life changes such as their parents’ divorce or the loss of a loved one, all types of anxiety, and behavioral concerns such as anger management and ADHD. Treating the child with respect and dignity and meeting them where they are are the heart of my practice. I use play, bibliotherapy, and expressive arts to connect with your child, help them share their thoughts and feelings, and explore coping skills that work for them. Take that first step on behalf of your child. Call and set up an appointment with me.

Anger, grief , mental illness, broken hearts.
Whether it’s anxiety, depression, stressful adjustments, marital problems or even stress from everyday life situations. Regardless what life throws your way it always helps to have someone by your side that will say I’ve got you and we will get through this together. One of the biggest reasons Counseling is successful is therapeutic rapport. Feeling cared about and never judged is something everyone deserves. Covid has made all of us think about the choices we have made and left us with a fear we are not used to. It’s something we are all facing together and learning to cope with this fear is something new for all of us.

Grief Therapists

How long does therapy take for grief?

There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?

Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?

Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?

Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
