I counsel people with all kinds of issues, but as a late-diagnosed autistic therapist, I have unique insight and experience helping adults explore whether they have autism or ADHD that was missed in childhood. You can heal from a lifetime of suppressing your true self and living without the support and understanding you need. Anxiety and depression don’t have to be your constant companions. I can help you determine if you need to spend 6-12 months on a waiting list for costly psychological testing, or if your symptoms are better explained by anxiety, trauma, OCD, ADHD, or an overlap between these & other common misdiagnoses.

Struggling with nightmares, flashbacks, and sensations that you wish would leave you alone? Do you find yourself avoiding things that remind you of the past? Are you isolating and wishing that someone would just love you as you are right now instead of the mask that you put on day after day? Or maybe you have a chronic illness and/or physical disability that you are beyond frustrated with and are tired of having to go to endless doctors and spending money with little to no answers. You are running on empty, and nobody seems understand how you are struggling with fatigue if you aren't working like you used to. Therapy can help.

I am passionate about working with teens and young adults as they explore the world around them and how they fit into it, as well as the geriatric population and the challenges associated with aging. Person-Centered Therapy and Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy are both part of my therapeutic approach. Seeking help for something as stigmatized as mental health is in my opinion one of the most difficult yet rewarding decisions one can make. Many times disruptions in life occur because we are out of alignment with our purpose, our people or our passion. Life transitions (chronic health diagnosis, aging parents, launching children into college and life, for example) create stress that mis-aligns our emotional well-being and we sometimes resort to unhealthy coping mechanisms that only exacerbate our dis-ease with life both present and future. I utilize a person-centered approach and will meet you where you are to address issues of your concern.

I specialize in Equine Therapy as well as traditional office psychotherapy. I take a mindfulness approach to "holding space" for my clients. I also recently completed an externship and Core Skills in Emotion Focused Therapy which allows me to do some pretty tough work with couples seeking joint therapy. I am also undergoing supervision for Trauma Focused CBT.

We know life can feel overwhelming, especially when you’re facing anxiety, trauma, OCD, depression, or other mental health challenges. Many of our clients are high-achieving, compassionate individuals who often prioritize others while struggling to care for themselves. They feel stuck in patterns of worry, fear, or sadness, and they’re ready for change. Our clients aren’t just looking for someone to listen; they want practical, evidence-based strategies to help them regain control of their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. They want to thrive, not just survive.

Do you find yourself at a loss with your child’s behavior? They are struggling at home or school with disruptive behaviors, or maybe they are withdrawn, struggling to engage socially with others. You feel a sense of frustration, helpless or maybe even guilt & your heart aches asking “How can I help my child?” It's absolutely understandable to feel overwhelmed when it comes to parenting & I'm glad you are seeking the support you and your child deserves. I believe through a positive therapeutic relationship, meaningful change occurs and I strive to provide the resources & strategies that can empower both you & your child to thrive.

I know that life is overwhelming, I know that anxiety is like living in an hollow dream, I know depression is heavy and both make it impossible to do anything well at home, in relationships or in our life's work. My clients are looking to break this grip from suffering to learn more about their minds, bodies and spirits in order to build a healthy and fulfilling life for them and their loved ones. We can do this together and I would be honored to help you.

It takes such courage to begin therapy, congratulations on taking the first step! I believe therapy can benefit us all, and I love seeing the positive changes in my client's lives and families as they process trauma, learn new skills and come to understand things in new, healthier ways. I see clients of all ages, but I most enjoy working with teens and tweens, the quirkier and messier the better. Together we can build an alliance that allows them to feel safe and heard, and develop skills that will have life long benefit.

I believe in creating a safe space that allows the opportunity to build trust and connection. Opening up can be scary, stressful, and difficult. As you learn skills and gain self-understanding, you'll increase confidence and achieve success. Changing thoughts and perspectives will allow you to gain control over old fears and habits. Life experiences, big and small, can leave scars on us, which can be labeled as anxiety, depression, or trauma. Traumatic events, such as accidents, illnesses, abuse, or major losses, can create a sense of numbing or shutting down, making it difficult to experience happiness or even relaxation.

Anxiety, panic, fear, grief, anger, irritability, insomnia, relapse, depression and shutting down are all normal responses to the trauma of the extensive fear and isolation we are currently experiencing. Whether distancing alone or with family, Covid 19 is making a serious impact on the mental and emotional wellbeing of millions of men, women and children. Many people are now experiencing acute anxiety, and PTSD. Those who were already dealing with mental health issues are at a very high risk of developing PTSD.

I want my clients to feel that they are safe and cared for as we work together to find solutions to the situations they face, and to find peace and joy in their relationships. I have experience working with Chronic health issues and medical trauma, as well as helping parents of adult children navigate their relationships and boundaries. If I could choose one overarching goal for my work with clients, it would be for them to realize their unique worth and value in the world. Working toward self-acceptance can lead them to love themselves and others more effectively and fulfill their desire for deep, satisfying relationships.

Female Therapists

Does it matter what gender my therapist is?

In general, there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or because they feel more comfortable with a therapist of their own gender due to shared life experiences or perspectives. Considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender may matter or improve their therapeutic experience. The most important consideration is that a client is able to build a trusting relationship with their therapist.

Should I see a female therapist?

Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist. For women, this could be because they believe that they will be able to better connect with a woman, and that a female therapist will be able to relate to their specific challenges and personal issues. It may be particularly beneficial for women to see a female therapist, for example, for gender-specific issues, such as sexism in the workplace, relationship issues, and gender roles. The most important factor in therapy is the client-therapist connection, and a therapist's gender as well as many other factors may play an important role in this.

Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?

Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?

It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
