Therapy is the opportunity to walk alongside people in their most difficult of times. Each individual or
family
has their own story to tell and it is an honor to join them on their journey. My goal in counseling is to provide a safe place for clients to share their stories and provide hope and practical help along the way.

As a Latina woman in Northwest Arkansas I have often struggled with identity. Constantly navigating between cultures can be detrimental to our self identity. This "otherness" often leads to anxiety and depression that seems inescapable. Learning to own all parts of ones self is crucial to mental wellbeing and to understanding the self. Or maybe you struggle with other issues like anxiety, depression, or ADHD (to name a few) and you don't feel like you have a community who understands how difficult that can be on your mental health.

Brené Brown once said, “We don’t have to do it alone, we were never meant to.” If you are to find yourself, your
family
, or your child struggling, the best thing you can do is seek out someone to listen and empathize with your situation. I have years of experience working in the mental health field. I primarily draw from Humanistic and Adlerian schools of psychology. I believe the foundation of your healing journey is a strong client-therapist relationship built on authenticity, empathy, and trust. I have experience working with: anxiety, depression, ADHD, self-harm, trauma, disruptive behaviors, and parent/child relational issues.

My ideal client would be someone who just got out of DV relationship or is actively trying to leave. They need support and someone to hear their story and empower them. So many people are scared to tell their story or no one believed them, so being the first person to listen, believe them and understand their struggles is so powerful as a therapist.

Anxiety, panic, fear, grief, anger, irritability, insomnia, relapse, depression and shutting down are all normal responses to the trauma of the extensive fear and isolation we are currently experiencing. Whether distancing alone or with
family
, Covid 19 is making a serious impact on the mental and emotional wellbeing of millions of men, women and children. Many people are now experiencing acute anxiety, and PTSD. Those who were already dealing with mental health issues are at a very high risk of developing PTSD.

I have theoretical interests in Internal
Family
Systems, Person-Centered Therapy, and Acceptance & Commitment Therapy.
There is a widespread implication in our society that difficult feelings are unacceptable or inconvenient. If I could assure you of anything, it would be that your emotions are valid and useful, no matter how uncomfortable they are. Let's use them as a guide in discovering what your mind and body are really trying to tell you. I want to support you in becoming a wise leader of yourself, not a prisoner of your pain. With each small step you make toward internal balance, external balance is not far behind.

I hold space for clients as they acknowledge areas of discomfort, mentally & emotionally, & work to make sense, & find purpose & understanding there. I encourage clients to identify how beliefs, past & present experiences, & troubling memories are creating distress in their lives through symptoms of PTSD & trauma, body-image issues & eating disorders, hyper-arousal, distractibility in important functional roles, self-harming & co-dependent behaviors, anxiety, low/unstable mood, relational & sexual issues, & other problematic long-term coping skills. I am a member of IAEDP & pursuing a cert. as an Eating Disorder Professional.

You are so incredibly valuable. You deserve a life free from fear, anxiety, and depression. But, like drops of water in a bucket, negative experiences have a way of building up over time. The inability to empty our bucket causes us to feel overwhelmed by our thoughts, emotions and the world around us. Right now, as you read this, I want you to imagine what it might feel like to find freedom and to put down the burdens you're carrying. Imagine what it might be like for your past to no longer control you or for your future to contain hope instead of dread. Come in, let's talk and let an experienced guide point you towards possibility.

Vineyard Counseling is a practice located in Northwest Arkansas that operates from a faith-based perspective while employing clinical theory and techniques to serve clients. Whether it is marital or
family
conflict, depression or anxiety, my hope for clients is that they not merely see their life experiences and struggles as problems to be "fixed", but as a process of being formed and changed in the innermost dimensions of the heart. My hope in therapy is that biblical wisdom and clinical expertise guide the counseling process.

I specialize in helping adult women recover from trauma, codependency, and challenging
family
dynamics.
It is absolutely possible to heal from complex trauma. Working with the right therapist can be transformative, and it is my privilege to help you explore the patterns, hardships, or relational issues keeping you stuck. Most of my clients come to me with histories of emotional abuse, difficult upbringings, or toxic romantic relationships. They often feel ashamed and insecure about these circumstances. Unpacking trauma is vulnerable, but the healing is profound. And whether it's your first time seeking treatment- or you've had therapy experiences in the past- I will strive to help you build a more authentic and meaningful life.

Maybe you're struggling in your relationship. Your heart races. Your stomach is in knots. You're haunted by pain from the past. You've tried addressing your relationship issues on your own, but they still blow up in your face. So you're nervous about coming in to therapy. Maybe you're afraid I'll judge you. Maybe you're afraid it's all in your head. Maybe you're afraid that if you try to fix it, it will only get worse.

I have experience with clients of all ages who are navigating difficulties such as divorce,
family
and peer relationships, anxiety, depression, grief, self esteem, trauma and ADHD.
It takes such courage to begin therapy, congratulations on taking the first step! I believe therapy can benefit us all, and I love seeing the positive changes in my client's lives and families as they process trauma, learn new skills and come to understand things in new, healthier ways. I see clients of all ages, but I most enjoy working with teens and tweens, the quirkier and messier the better. Together we can build an alliance that allows them to feel safe and heard, and develop skills that will have life long benefit.

Family Therapy
What do family therapists do?
A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.
How long does therapy for families take to work?
Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.
How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?
You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.
Is therapy for families effective?
Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
