I specialize in working with teenagers, families, and couples .
Sometimes trying to feel better feels hopeless. No matter what you do or try, your anxiety just won't go away. The depression keeps hitting you like waves in the ocean, coming up over and over again. Or maybe it's one of your most important relationships. You just can't seem to figure things out with your partner . No matter what parenting technique you try, you just can't seem to get through to your teenager. I don't know exactly where you are at today, but I do know how it can be intimidating to ask for help.

While much of my experience has been centered on work with the immigrant and LGBTQIA+ community, I strive to create an open and affirmative space for all and work with adults, young adults, families, and couples .
Life’s journey can be really challenging sometimes. Hardships, relationships, and emotions can be difficult to overcome. While people come to treatment for a variety of reasons, therapy can serve as a critical anchor when you are feeling lost, broken, or stuck. I view therapy as a safe, explorative space to help you work through the problems you're experiencing as well as learn more about the relationships affecting your life.

Brené Brown once said, “We don’t have to do it alone, we were never meant to.” If you are to find yourself, your family, or your child struggling, the best thing you can do is seek out someone to listen and empathize with your situation. I have years of experience working in the mental health field. I primarily draw from Humanistic and Adlerian schools of psychology. I believe the foundation of your healing journey is a strong client-therapist relationship built on authenticity, empathy, and trust. I have experience working with: anxiety, depression, ADHD, self-harm, trauma, disruptive behaviors, and parent/child relational issues.

As your therapist, I offer a robust counseling relationship that not only addresses your immediate needs, but also the formative qualities needed for personal/interpersonal healing, growth, virtue and wisdom.
Vineyard Counseling is a practice located in Northwest Arkansas that operates from a faith-based perspective while employing clinical theory and techniques to serve clients. Whether it is marital or family conflict, depression or anxiety, my hope for clients is that they not merely see their life experiences and struggles as problems to be "fixed", but as a process of being formed and changed in the innermost dimensions of the heart. My hope in therapy is that biblical wisdom and clinical expertise guide the counseling process.

Couples Counseling Therapists

Does couples counseling work?

Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.

When should a couple seek counseling?

Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.

How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?

The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.

How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?

The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
