I have many years of experience working with autism , ADHD, anxiety, depression, relationship issues, parenting issues, defiant behaviors, and trauma.
I believe that success is individual and that every person is the expert of their own life. I am grateful for each and every opportunity to witness change! Therapy is a process of learning about your own ability to solve your problems and build your own toolbox. For children, it is about learning many different tools to use in the many situations they will find themselves in as they grow up.

I especially enjoy working with individuals who struggle with hoarding, clients with high-functioning autism , and first- and second- generation immigrants.
Do you have problems coping with the stresses of everyday life? Do you struggle with maintaining important relationships? Do you feel like you are your own worst enemy? I would like to help. Using various assessment and therapy techniques, you and I can work together to find out which obstacles are standing in the way of your success and happiness. Then we will set concrete goals and formulate a plan for change. At all times, however, you will find my therapy to be positive and affirming. Even the most reserved of clients find me genuine and easy to talk to.

Are you struggling with feelings of inadequacy & shame? Are you doing your best each day but longing for fulfilment and peace that seem beyond your reach? Have you felt that there is something holding you back? Maybe you are an individual who has struggled for years to let go of something from your past- event(s) or negative beliefs. Maybe you are a parent of a child or children who you do not feel connected to or able to effectively communicate with. If you are a parent, has parenting turned into something that seems like a daily battle with someone you barely know? If any of this resonates with you, I’d love to help!

There is a widespread implication in our society that difficult feelings are unacceptable or inconvenient. If I could assure you of anything, it would be that your emotions are valid and useful, no matter how uncomfortable they are. Let's use them as a guide in discovering what your mind and body are really trying to tell you. I want to support you in becoming a wise leader of yourself, not a prisoner of your pain. With each small step you make toward internal balance, external balance is not far behind.

Sometimes trying to feel better feels hopeless. No matter what you do or try, your anxiety just won't go away. The depression keeps hitting you like waves in the ocean, coming up over and over again. Or maybe it's one of your most important relationships. You just can't seem to figure things out with your partner. No matter what parenting technique you try, you just can't seem to get through to your teenager. I don't know exactly where you are at today, but I do know how it can be intimidating to ask for help.

In a world where we often have to shrink to fit in or hide parts of ourself that make others uncomfortable, my hope is to provide the safe space you need to be your true, authentic self. Being open about your life can be a very scary thing, but I believe there is beauty in being vulnerable and that true healing comes out of vulnerability and connection. The good news is, you do not have to walk through that discomfort alone. Regardless of what brings you to therapy, I hope that we are able to create a sense of peace through our work together.

Autism Therapists

What is the most effective treatment for autism?

Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) has come to be considered the standard treatment for children with autism spectrum disorder, and research has confirmed its effectiveness for many children. Therapists trained in ABA techniques work with children (and their parents) on developing social skills, communication and learning abilities, and everyday habits of hygiene and grooming. The clinician will tailor their program to the child’s particular need but the overarching goal will be to help them advance as far as possible toward independence based on their level of symptoms and decrease the need for additional special services. Families should seek a mental health professional specifically trained in ABA, and holding special certification in the technique, who has extensive experience not only with the approach but in using it with children with the same level of symptoms as the child who needs care.

How does ABA work?

Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) sessions, which typically focus on positive reinforcement, can be intensive, lasting two or more hours several times a week, and continuing for two years or more. Therapists can also be expected to ask parents to take an active role in reinforcing lessons. Research has found that the technique can lead to major improvements that decrease the need for additional special services.

How does treatment for autism work?

Therapy sessions based on Applied Behavior Analysis will likely be frequent, intensive, and highly structured. After a thorough assessment, a therapist will help a child understand and develop skills in a range of areas, including communication, motor skills, social skills, self-care, play, and academic skills, as well as routines of daily living like hygiene. Typically, the therapist will help a child break down the components of a behavior—often referred to as the antecedent (what prompts an action), the behavior, and the consequence(what immediately follows)—and then reward the child at every step, while also asking parents to reinforce the lessons, and the rewards, throughout the day. This core therapy may be supplemented by occupational or speech therapy, and antidepressants, antipsychotics, and anticonvulsants may be prescribed to address specific severe symptoms.

How long does therapy for autism take?

Some people with autism spectrum disorder may be engaged in some level of therapy for many years, but research shows that treatment will be most effective if it is begun early and delivered intensively. When therapy begins by age 3, children tend to be better able to grasp and adopt the skills needed to manage everyday life, including attending school and establishing social relationships. This type of early-intervention treatment regimen is highly structured, typically involving 20 to 40 hours of one-on-one therapy per week, along with additional hours of engagement managed by parents, for a period of two years or more, although the duration of treatment is dependent on the child’s level of symptoms and pace of progress.
