I am also experienced in treating anxiety , trauma, and depression.
Hi there! I’m so glad you’re searching for the support you need and deserve. As a therapist, I believe that you are the expert in your own experience. I love working with clients who are willing to do the hard work of digging into the emotions and beliefs that keep us stuck in cycles of stress. My biggest passion is helping clients dismantle shame. I am a firm believer that we have all been directly affected by shameful messages about food, our bodies, and our sexuality, and I want for everyone to be able to experience freedom in these areas.

Anxiety , panic , fear, grief, anger, irritability, insomnia, relapse, depression and shutting down are all normal responses to the trauma of the extensive fear and isolation we are currently experiencing. Whether distancing alone or with family, Covid 19 is making a serious impact on the mental and emotional wellbeing of millions of men, women and children. Many people are now experiencing acute anxiety , and PTSD. Those who were already dealing with mental health issues are at a very high risk of developing PTSD.

Vineyard Counseling is a practice located in Northwest Arkansas that operates from a faith-based perspective while employing clinical theory and techniques to serve clients. Whether it is marital or family conflict, depression or anxiety , my hope for clients is that they not merely see their life experiences and struggles as problems to be "fixed", but as a process of being formed and changed in the innermost dimensions of the heart. My hope in therapy is that biblical wisdom and clinical expertise guide the counseling process.

I have experience with clients of all ages who are navigating difficulties such as divorce, family and peer relationships, anxiety , depression, grief, self esteem, trauma and ADHD.
It takes such courage to begin therapy, congratulations on taking the first step! I believe therapy can benefit us all, and I love seeing the positive changes in my client's lives and families as they process trauma, learn new skills and come to understand things in new, healthier ways. I see clients of all ages, but I most enjoy working with teens and tweens, the quirkier and messier the better. Together we can build an alliance that allows them to feel safe and heard, and develop skills that will have life long benefit.

Brené Brown once said, “We don’t have to do it alone, we were never meant to.” If you are to find yourself, your family, or your child struggling, the best thing you can do is seek out someone to listen and empathize with your situation. I have years of experience working in the mental health field. I primarily draw from Humanistic and Adlerian schools of psychology. I believe the foundation of your healing journey is a strong client-therapist relationship built on authenticity, empathy, and trust. I have experience working with: anxiety , depression, ADHD, self-harm, trauma, disruptive behaviors, and parent/child relational issues.

I have many years of experience working with autism, ADHD, anxiety , depression, relationship issues, parenting issues, defiant behaviors, and trauma.
I believe that success is individual and that every person is the expert of their own life. I am grateful for each and every opportunity to witness change! Therapy is a process of learning about your own ability to solve your problems and build your own toolbox. For children, it is about learning many different tools to use in the many situations they will find themselves in as they grow up.

I believe in creating a safe place is that allows opportunity to build trust and connection. Openning up can be scary, stressful and difficult. As you to learn skills and self understanding you increase confindence as well as success. Changing thoughts and perspective will allow you to gain control over old fears and habits. Life experiences, big and small, can leave scars on us which can be labelled as anxiety , depression or trauma. Traumatic events such as accidents, illness, abuse or major loses can create a sense of numbing or shutting down that make it difficult to experience happiness or even relaxation.

Anxiety Therapists

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?

Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?

The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?

Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?

Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
