I greatly enjoy working with adults on issues including relationships,
anger
, communications, anxiety, stress coping, grief, substance abuse, parenting, and mild to moderate depression. In fact, while I was an 18/19-year-old college student, I saw a counselor at my college for
anger
and depression and it made an incredible, positive difference in my life. Now I have the privilege to provide caring, compassionate and confidential counseling to others. Evening and weekend appointments are available, in addition to some weekday daytime hours.

Anger
, grief, mental illness, broken hearts.
Whether it’s anxiety, depression, stressful adjustments, marital problems or even stress from everyday life situations. Regardless what life throws your way it always helps to have someone by your side that will say I’ve got you and we will get through this together. One of the biggest reasons Counseling is successful is therapeutic rapport. Feeling cared about and never judged is something everyone deserves. Covid has made all of us think about the choices we have made and left us with a fear we are not used to. It’s something we are all facing together and learning to cope with this fear is something new for all of us.

Anxiety, panic, fear, grief,
anger
, irritability, insomnia, relapse, depression and shutting down are all normal responses to the trauma of the extensive fear and isolation we are currently experiencing. Whether distancing alone or with family, Covid 19 is making a serious impact on the mental and emotional wellbeing of millions of men, women and children. Many people are now experiencing acute anxiety, and PTSD. Those who were already dealing with mental health issues are at a very high risk of developing PTSD.

Pain pushes us to change, and comes in many forms; depression, anxiety symptoms, feelings of inadequacy, grief,
anger
, fear, or hopelessness. How we respond to change will ultimately put us on a healing journey, or keep us standing still. As your therapist, I offer you a safe environment to tell your truth, and explore thoughts, feelings, and experiences without judgment. If you’ve experienced physical/sexual trauma, anxiety, depression, PTSD, complicated trauma, and/or
anger
issues, let’s talk! I have worked with children, adolescents and adults. I am a graduate of John Brown University in Siloam Springs, AR with dual licensure.

Over the past few years depression and anxiety have been on the rise and our teens are more defiant and resistant. Stress causes a shift in our beliefs to make us think we are something we are not. Thinking errors create a false representation of ourselves. Over the past 20 years I have provided support and assistance to people of all ages to provide tools to change their negative thought process, let go of their past and learn how to make better choices. If you or someone you know suffers from depression, anxiety, defiance or
anger
contact me, together we'll develop some calming and coping skills to help guide you on your journey.

Choosing to reach out to a therapist can be scary. I use those skills to treat a wide variety of problems from
anger
to zoophobia.
You've been in an office all day, and probably the last thing you want to do is go to another office and talk about problems. My goal is to do therapy differently when possible, whether that means going outdoors and taking a walk or meeting from the comfort of your own home via secured telehealth. Either way, you'll experience evidence-based treatment in a new way. Check out my website for more about what to expect. If you need one-on-one care, we can do that. If you're on a budget, check out my Jaunts, which incorporate hiking and groups at a lower rate.

I also work with adults and children experiencing depression, anxiety,
anger
and behavioral issues.
Life can be challenging, overwhelming and, at times, just plain difficult! The good news is, it doesn't have to be- and you don't have to face these challenges alone. My approach is to offer compassionate support in a non-judgmental and empowering environment in which you or your child are the expert on your experiences. The goal of therapy is to empower you or your child to navigate life events, reduce stress and experience personal growth, as well as increase feelings of self worth and satisfaction with relationships.

Sometimes trying to feel better feels hopeless. No matter what you do or try, your anxiety just won't go away. The depression keeps hitting you like waves in the ocean, coming up over and over again. Or maybe it's one of your most important relationships. You just can't seem to figure things out with your partner. No matter what parenting technique you try, you just can't seem to get through to your teenager. I don't know exactly where you are at today, but I do know how it can be intimidating to ask for help.

I believe in creating a safe place is that allows opportunity to build trust and connection. Openning up can be scary, stressful and difficult. As you to learn skills and self understanding you increase confindence as well as success. Changing thoughts and perspective will allow you to gain control over old fears and habits. Life experiences, big and small, can leave scars on us which can be labelled as anxiety, depression or trauma. Traumatic events such as accidents, illness, abuse or major loses can create a sense of numbing or shutting down that make it difficult to experience happiness or even relaxation.

Anger Management Therapists
How long does therapy take for anger management?
Treatment duration depends on the person’s specific challenges and circumstances. There are treatments for anger problems that are shorter and more goal-oriented, like cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), which can last weeks to months. Others, like dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) may last between six months and a year, while a more intensive treatment, like psychodynamic therapy, is open-ended, and clients may see their therapist for a year or longer.
How do you know if you need therapy for anger management?
Everyone gets mad from time to time. But when angry outbursts become frequent and cause damage to relationships, whether at home or in the office, it may be a good time to look into therapy. A therapist can assess where a client’s anger may be coming from, suggest strategies for averting angry outbursts, and help a client create a plan to become a calmer version of themselves.
Is there medication for anger management?
Medications do exist that help people mitigate the feeling of anger, but these are reserved for people with anger-related psychiatric disorders, such as intermittent explosive disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, or in some cases borderline personality disorder. In these cases, antidepressant medications may be prescribed to help with the client’s symptoms. In most cases of anger management, however, talk therapy is the recommended treatment, along with lifestyle changes where relevant.
What’s the best way to encourage someone to seek help for anger issues?
It’s helpful to express your concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual’s behavior affected either themselves or others should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
