I love working with children and adults who come with a wide range of difficulties they would like to address, including, anxiety, depression, ADHD, trauma and childhood neglect, divorce related issues, sexual abuse, domestic violence, and obsessive/compulsive disorder, abandonment, and anger management, along with other serious mental health issues.
I am passionate about working with teens and young adults as they explore the world around them and how they fit into it, as well as the geriatric population and the challenges associated with aging. Person-Centered Therapy and Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy are both part of my therapeutic approach. Seeking help for something as stigmatized as mental health is in my opinion one of the most difficult yet rewarding decisions one can make. As a Latina woman in Northwest Arkansas I have often struggled with identity. Constantly navigating between cultures can be detrimental to our self identity. This "otherness" often leads to anxiety and depression that seems inescapable. Learning to own all parts of ones self is crucial to mental wellbeing and to understanding the self. Or maybe you struggle with other issues like anxiety, depression, or ADHD (to name a few) and you don't feel like you have a community who understands how difficult that can be on your mental health.

I have experience with clients of all ages who are navigating difficulties such as divorce, family and peer relationships, anxiety, depression, grief, self esteem, trauma and ADHD.
It takes such courage to begin therapy, congratulations on taking the first step! I believe therapy can benefit us all, and I love seeing the positive changes in my client's lives and families as they process trauma, learn new skills and come to understand things in new, healthier ways. I see clients of all ages, but I most enjoy working with teens and tweens, the quirkier and messier the better. Together we can build an alliance that allows them to feel safe and heard, and develop skills that will have life long benefit.

Are you looking for more from life? Anxiety hits all of us differently. ADHD, OCD, addiction, and grief are just a few sources of anxiety that can get in the way. I specialize in helping detangle you from your anxiety, and help people walk away with skills to experience calm and peace. My clients often set goals and achieve them with the right support. I offer EMDR (eye-movement desensitization and reprocessing) for clients who continue to have PTSD-like symptoms after traumatic event(s). It is an honor to walk alongside those who have been stuck, and help free them from what has kept them captive.

If you're searching for a therapist and feeling any shame or disappointment—let that go. Mental health deserves the same care and attention as physical health, just like visiting a doctor when you're unwell. My therapeutic approach is all about providing a safe, non-judgmental space where you can explore, heal, and grow. I deeply believe in the connection between the mind and body.

You feel like you're not "allowed" to be who you truly are. It's incredibly isolating and painful to feel like no one understands you. It's even more isolating and painful when you feel embarrassed or ashamed of who you are or like you aren’t good enough. You often have thoughts like "I wish I were someone else" or "If people really knew me, they would reject me." At times you don’t even know for sure who you are. It’s exhausting to wrestle with these thoughts, and you feel you can’t get this figured out on your own.

Seeking help for mental health concerns can be a challenging decision, which is why I am glad you have started the journey toward psychological health and wellness. You may have started to discover ways that your past hurts and experiences are impacting current relationships and need help processing the details. It may also be that you are feeling a loss of identity in your family or workplace. Maybe you recently suffered a loss and feel that the advice of friends or family isn't helping in the way you would like.

ADHD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for ADHD?

You should seek treatment for ADHD if you consistently have difficulty with attention, hyperactivity, or impulsivity that interferes with your daily life. Symptoms of ADHD include the inability to sustain attention during tasks, difficulty organizing tasks and activities, being easily distracted, frequent fidgeting or squirming, and talking or interrupting excessively. If these symptoms interfere with your career, academics, or relationships—for example, consistently failing to complete professional projects on time—you should seek an evaluation for ADHD.

How does treatment for ADHD work?

Effective treatment for ADHD often consists of medication, behavioral therapy, and lifestyle changes. Stimulant medications such as Adderall and Ritalin work by altering levels of neurotransmitters in the brain; higher levels of dopamine and norepinephrine are known to improve attention and focus. Therapy works by helping people with ADHD understand the condition, discuss their areas of difficulty, and develop behavioral strategies to manage their symptoms. In some cases, modifying one’s diet and exercise can also help improve symptoms.

Are there specific medications for ADHD?

Medications to treat ADHD are generally stimulants, the most common are Adderall and Ritalin. There are two categories of stimulants: Amphetamines include Adderall, Dyanavel, Vyvanse, and Dexedrine, and methylphenidates include Ritalin, Concerta, Daytrana, Focalin, Quillichew, Quillivant, and Metadate. Non-stimulants and antidepressants may be used as an alternative if stimulants aren’t effective or viable for a particular patient.

How long does treatment for ADHD take?

It’s tough to give an exact time frame because everyone varies. In terms of medications, stimulants begin to work very soon after you take them, generally within the hour. It may take time to identify the right medication and dosage, but the medication itself is fast-acting. In terms of therapy, it takes time to develop skills and put them into practice, but you will likely see improvements within a few weeks or months.
