Are you feeling overwhelmed by anxiety, grief, stress, depression, or a major life transition?
Many of the people I work with are successful, capable individuals who have spent years caring for others, managing responsibilities, and solving problems. Yet even strong people can feel stuck, overwhelmed, lonely, or uncertain during difficult seasons of life. Therapy offers a place to slow down, gain perspective, and reconnect with your strengths.

If you are in a crisis or life storm, and left feeling helpless, hopeless, or disappointed; there is HOPE. No matter what stage of life you are going through, or how scary the feelings and situations can be, brainspotting can help. I have been trained in brainspotting and have seen firsthand the healing it can bring. Our brains our powerful and unique, but often store unfinished business and unprocessed trauma which leaves emotional scars inside or even physical pain. But with this approach, you can leave feeling relieved and hopeful with quick responses.

I work from the belief that people hold within themselves the ability to change. Often our greatest change comes at times of transition. Transitions -- be they of community, health, age, gender identity, or relationship origin -- present a need for careful decision-making and support. When confronted with hard challenges, many of us need someone simply to assist us in looking at our lives, recognizing our strengths and supports around us, and developing strategies to bring about the change we desire.

If we can't change your perspective, let's try changing your situation. We'll process cycles of emotional and behavioral problems in an effort to lead lives that are happier and more fulfilling. At the end of therapy, our goal is to reduce the impact of previous and on-going negative influences on your life.

I believe clients DESERVE to be treated fairly and honestly. I prefer to work with my clients to help them achieve the life of their choosing, not my choosing. We all have an idea of what we want in life and how we want our lives to be, "our ultimate goal". Many times in life we experience obstacles and challenges which can interfere with us reaching that goal and making the most out of life. We will work together to help you achieve "YOUR ULTIMATE GOAL"!!!

And not limited to depression, anxiety, grief and loss in all its forms.
At 61, I am primarily focused on working with adults 18+. Along with my family time, working in a capacity that exemplifies service with humanity is most fulfilling to me. It has been an honor to sit with people of all stations and situations in life; hear their stories, cry with them, laugh with them, and sometimes, sit quietly with them. I am not the healer, nor do I have all of life's solutions. What I can bring is assistance and clarity to circumstances as well as guidance depending on subject at hand; viewing some issues through a less cloudy lens. Aiding in decision making and direction.

Grief Therapists
How long does therapy take for grief?
There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?
Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?
Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?
Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
