If you’re reading this, maybe you’re ready to find freedom from your past...freedom from the feelings of I’m not good enough. It’s that feeling of “not a good enough mom, friend, student, wife…Just never enough!" These feelings can sneak up on us and color our perception of the world. We can end up spending a lot of time in our heads, mentally beating ourselves up until we learn a new way of seeing the world. That’s where I can help!!

I’m Tara and I work with ALL clients, transgender and non-binary clients as well as clients that are feeling overwhelmed and anxious about work, school, home or friends.
Step out into freedom and embrace the life you were born to live! Is fear running your life? Do you hide the “real you” from family & friends? Discover the courage to be who you truly are! Many people dealing with anxiety, depression and gender and sexuality issues feel they are missing out on life. Clients I work with often report feeling alone and afraid to reach out for help. They no longer want to hide who they are, yet also feel stuck moving forward due to lack of support or fear of judgement. My passion is to help you ditch the shame and find freedom to love the person in the mirror despite the opinions of others.

I work with clients with a wide range of concerns including depression, anxiety, relationship issues, parenting problems, career challenges, OCD and ADHD; however, my primary areas of focus are working within the LGBTQIA+ community and with trauma. I have completed training in several modalities to increase my ability to help people navigate through their struggles. I know the value of therapy for trauma due to my own experiences and try to bring compassion and empathy into every session. I use a variety of techniques and tools, such as EMDR, ego state therapy, and CBT to help tailor therapy to each individual client.

Most of the people I work with are used to pushing through. They think a lot. They carry a lot. They’ve figured out how to function - even when something underneath feels off, overwhelming, or hard to name. I work with adults navigating anxiety, burnout, trauma, depression, neurodivergence, life-transitions, and caregiving roles. Many are high-functioning but internally stretched - dealing with rumination, self-criticism, sensory overwhelm, emotional shutdown, or cycles of overworking and collapse. Others are trying to reconnect with themselves after years of adapting to others.

On the outside, you appear to be functioning well most days but on the inside you feel a deep unsettling that you haven’t quite been able to pinpoint. You simultaneously want to be seen and are uncertain what it means to be FULLY seen. You've spent most of your life being told who you are, what to like, and how to be; so much so that you wonder if you even truly know who you are as opposed to who society has told you to be. You’re ready to gain a better understanding of yourself, the world around you, and how to exist in it more presently, more peacefully, and more joyfully. Together, we can begin dissecting what YOU need.

You may look like you’re handling life well, but inside you’re worn down by anxiety, overthinking, and the pressure to stay in control. Maybe you’re navigating a life transition like career shifts, relationship changes, midlife questions, or questioning your identity later in life. Your mind rarely shuts off. You want clarity, direction, and steadiness — not endless talk about feelings, but real forward movement.

Pain pushes us to change, and comes in many forms; depression, anxiety symptoms, feelings of inadequacy, grief, anger, fear, or hopelessness. How we respond to change will ultimately put us on a healing journey, or keep us standing still. As your therapist, I offer you a safe environment to tell your truth, and explore thoughts, feelings, and experiences without judgment. If you’ve experienced physical/sexual trauma, anxiety, depression, PTSD, complicated trauma, and/or anger issues, let’s talk! I have worked with children, adolescents and adults. I am a graduate of John Brown University in Siloam Springs, AR with dual licensure.

Transgender Therapists
As a gender-diverse individual, why might I want to see a therapist who is also gender diverse?
A trans or gender-diverse client may want to see a therapist who is also trans or gender diverse because the client may feel safer sharing their experiences and more confident that the therapist will understand, validate, and support them. But trans or gender-diverse clients can also benefit from therapy with cisgender therapists; this is a personal decision based on the connection between the client and the therapist, and if that connection is strong, therapy will be successful.

What if I cannot find a therapist who shares my gender identity?
Therapy can still be effective if a therapist does not share a client’s gender identity; a large body of research indicates that the most important factor in successful therapy is the therapeutic alliance. A therapist can also be interviewed for sensitivity and competence on gender identity and expression to ensure they possess appropriate knowledge and skills. Many therapists have excellent training and extensive experience working with gender-diverse clients, and that expertise can be invaluable despite a therapist not sharing the same firsthand experiences.

How can I recognize a good therapist for working with gender-diverse clients?
An experienced therapist should be able to help clients explore their gender identity and expression, alleviate discomfort related to their gender identity, treat mental health challenges and trauma, address existing relationships and communication with family members and loved ones, and determine the next steps pertaining to nonmedical or medical gender-affirming interventions. To recognize a good therapist, clients can ask about these topics and explore their comfort and connection with the clinician.

How might I inquire about a therapist’s experience working with transgender clients?
Clients should feel comfortable asking therapists directly about their experience working with transgender or gender-diverse clientele. For example, clients may ask about the therapist’s training and education with regard to gender identity, how many trans clients they’ve worked with in the past, and what sorts of matters were discussed. You may wish to inquire how a therapist specifically supports the needs of transgender clients or clients questioning their gender identity. A good clinician who is nonetheless not the right fit for you is often happy to make referrals to others based on the concerns you articulate in a preliminary conversation.
