Shame is never a motivator. Many of your issues may be rooted in shame that you never even realized. When these measures are not met, we can feel depleted, discouraged, and even hopeless. Or perhaps we have been verbally told by others (either past or present) they were disappointed in us or we weren't good enough. And we cannot seem to escape these defeating and destructive thoughts.
