I want to start by saying that I truly hold a solid belief that each and every human deserves to feel happiness, love, excitement, contentment, and ultimately to achieve their dreams, desires, goals, and best-selves! I implement an integrative approach, with a craving to help. Whether that assistance be with an individual navigating ADHD, a person learning to cope with anxiety/depression, a couple for growth & change, entire family in need, I am devoted to seeking out and destroying the obstacles, strongholds, cognitive distortions, or whatever the “problem” is that is impeding their ability to live happy, healthy, fulfilled lives.

I help clients find a greater sense of themselves by helping them to become more aware of their own human nature. I aim to empower clients to become clear about their life goals and how to achieve them. Clients can hope to gain greater understanding and respect for their own inner ability to find resolution. In counseling, people feel supported while working through real and perceived barriers at their own pace. I believe each of us has the wisdom we seek within ourselves; the key is to access that wisdom and to believe in it.

Taking some new clients, email for faster response. Counseling is centered around your needs and goals to live your authentic journey! I work with teens and adults who struggle with depression and anxiety with a specialization helping neurodivergent individuals. I like to help people realize their own authentic self and sometimes that is using expressive art therapy when words can not describe the emotional pain or pattern of thoughts. I am expressive arts trauma certified.

Stephanie’s great joy is guiding her clients through a process of self-awareness and growth. She has a focus and intention toward supporting those who suffer with trauma through EMDR therapy. Stephanie is also very passionate about her work with couples. She is trained in The Gottman Method, and Emotionally Focused Therapy for Couples (EFT). Stephanie also works well with those who are in high pressure careers which has resulted in exhaustion and self-doubt. Thus, she has embraced treatment modalities such as Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction.

Just by reading this, you are showing your strength and courage to take the first step to speak with a therapist. For many people, it is a scary step to make and keep a counseling appointment. People often worry and wonder things like, what will counseling be like, what will the therapist ask me, and will therapy really help me? When I meet you, I will commend you for your courage to come to counseling and we will discuss what brings you to counseling. Then we will make what I call a counseling GPS. This is a plan of how to get from where you are to where you want to be (through counseling).

Psychoanalytic Therapists
Does psychoanalytic therapy work?
Psychoanalytic therapy derives from the work of Sigmund Freud. In this type of therapy, discovering buried thoughts and emotions from the unconscious will help a person work through their difficulties and negative behaviors. Research shows that psychoanalytic therapy can be highly effective, with patients reporting improvement in mood, quality of life, and overall well-being.

How long are people typically in psychoanalytic therapy?
Traditional psychoanalysis is in-depth and is conducted in five sessions every week. Today, modern psychoanalytic therapy is less intense and normally incorporates as few as one or two sessions a week. In some cases, positive change can occur quickly. However, if the condition, difficulty, or behavior is deep-seated, improvement may require many months or years of therapy.

Is psychoanalytic therapy suitable for young people?
Children and adolescents can benefit from this type of therapy. Many kids and teens are often unable to form and communicate their thoughts and emotions. Psychoanalytic therapy uses specific techniques such as dream analysis, symbolism, and free association or word association; all of which can be useful tools for less-communicative young people. Through this therapy, a patient will hopefully make connections between what they feel inside and how the world works outside.

Can psychoanalytic therapy be done online?
Modern-day psychoanalytic therapy is very different from traditional psychoanalysis. While an individual can sit face-to-face with the psychoanalyst for multiple sessions a week, they do not have to. Today, psychoanalytic therapy can be effectively conducted online or by phone. The key is that the individual confronts what is repressed and avoided, and this can be done whether in person or over online video.
