I want to start by saying that I truly hold a solid belief that each and every human deserves to feel happiness, love, excitement, contentment, and ultimately to achieve their dreams, desires, goals, and best-selves! I implement an integrative approach, with a craving to help. Whether that assistance be with an individual navigating ADHD, a person learning to cope with anxiety/depression, a couple for growth & change, entire family in need, I am devoted to seeking out and destroying the obstacles, strongholds, cognitive distortions, or whatever the “problem” is that is impeding their ability to live happy, healthy, fulfilled lives.

I utilize Emotionally Focused Therapy ( EFT) to explore what is contributing to your distress, whether that is something from your past or something you are experiencing today.
Painful experiences can leave us feeling completely alone. Sometimes we just need someone to meet us where we are to find a way to move forward. Healthy relationships can be difficult to navigate, especially when there is a lifetime of hurt getting in the way. I want to help you create healthy, fulfilling, nourishing connections with those you care about. Along with anxiety and depression, I am passionate about working with those who have dealt with trauma.

If you’ve been carrying too much for too long, you’re not weak — you’re tired. Many of the people who need therapy are competent, capable adults who function well on the outside but feel overwhelmed, stuck, anxious, or emotionally exhausted on the inside. Trauma, chronic stress, complicated relationships, or long-standing patterns can quietly shape how we see ourselves and the world. Therapy doesn’t have to feel cold or clinical. Healing can be serious work — and still include moments of relief, perspective, and even humor. Sometimes a well-timed laugh is part of how the nervous system resets. Growth happens in safe spaces.

I have a variety of tools to help deal with Anxiety, depression, or trauma related issues that include CBT, Solution Focused, EMDR, and Emotionally Focused therapy to help couples.
We are all looking for that safe place where we can go to heal and work on finding ways to improve our lives. Depression, anxiety, and a sense of being stuck in the 'same old thing' are common themes. Marital is my post masters training area of emphasis. I also offer courses for premarital and co-parenting. Military, Police, First-Responders, Veterans, and their families are populations I specifically want to support. To do this I practice an evidenced based trauma therapy called EMDR that uses the body's built-in processes for digesting maladaptive information.

We all experience a multitude of emotions, and, sadly, we aren't always shown the best way to communicate and work through these emotions. Instead, we often try to push them to the side. This can easily lead to difficulties in our relationships, conflict in our families, to us feeling isolated, and asking the question, "What's wrong with me?". I work with children, adolescents, and adults to help them navigate these emotions, understand their behaviors, and find connection.

Emotionally Focused Therapists
Who is emotionally focused therapy for?
Emotionally focused therapy (EFT) is for couples who are emotionally distressed, stuck in an unsatisfying relationship pattern or feeling deeply alienated. They may even believe the relationship is beyond repair. Very often, the partners display intense anger, fear, grief, loss of trust, or a sense of betrayal in the relationship. In addition, EFT is helpful to couples and individuals who have difficulty expressing emotions and those who have trouble regulating emotions.

Why do people need emotionally focused therapy?
People need emotionally focused therapy because the need for others is built into the brain, but the pressures of daily life can erode feelings of love, and couples often do not have the skills to find their way back to the comfort of each other. Instead, they may be stuck in repetitive patterns of anger, fear, grief, loss of trust, or a sense of betrayal. Emotionally focused therapy regards such strong negative feelings as expressions of protest over the loss of connection and turns them into pathways of reconnection.

What happens in emotionally focused therapy?
Over the course of eight to 20 weekly sessions, couples de-escalate their negative emotional reactivity to one another so that they can listen to each other and be responsive to each other’s needs. Then the deep emotional and physical bond is restored, giving partners a sense of comfort and security, which they can use to solve whatever problems come their way. The therapist plays an active role, helping partners understand how anger and withdrawal are actually misguided cries for connection.

What problems does emotionally focused therapy treat?
EFT is designed to help couples stuck in dysfunctional relationship patterns regain closeness and rebuild their relationship. Typically, such couples experience considerable distress, with partners feeling alienated and distrustful of one another, not certain their relationship can survive. EFT is also helpful to individuals experiencing attachment-related fears of loss; it helps them learn to use their fears as a way of eliciting the closeness they desire.
