After a decade of work as an elementary teacher, Kristin completed a dual MS in Clinical Mental Health & Marriage and Family Counseling with an emphasis in Play Therapy from John Brown University. She has experience in working with children, families, couples, adults, and groups. Kristin is trained in Emotionally Focused Therapy and EMDR. Her desire as a counselor is to join people on their healing journey by helping to create opportunities that both strengthen relational bonds and integrate the mind, body, and spirit.

My cognitive approach to therapy provides a framework that our thoughts, feelings and behaviors are interconnected. I explore past experiences, both positive and negative that may have contributed to current thoughts around certain situations, people and things. My aim is to help identify negative thought patterns or beliefs that cause distress and challenge those to provide a changed approach to your beliefs.

Endings are difficult, uncertainty is scary, and transition is hard. Unresolved grief, trauma, and/or emotions can become complicated, resulting in behaviors and thought patterns that effect all areas of your life. It can lead to burnout, loss of energy, and emotional imbalance. It can cause isolation, anger, and confusion; hopelessness, loneliness, and despair. While grief will touch everyone, in some way- whether brought on by death, divorce, illness, job loss, trauma, etc.- your story is not anyone else's but your own. There’s no set limit on how long it should take you to “move on” and no “right” way to grieve your situation.
