I enjoy working with adults and teenagers. I especially enjoy working with couples. My journey is unique, just like yours is but there are a lot of similarities that we can draw from in the healing process. Using the skills I've discovered myself and the tools I've learned I want to help you realize there's hope no matter what's going on in your life.

My goal as your therapist is to help you navigate some of life's difficult obstacles, through coping skills, processing, evidence-based practices, and client centered work. If you are someone who struggles with anxiety, depression, trauma, difficulties in relationships, faith issues, cultural issues, or any other psychological or emotional issue, then therapy may be right for you! Therapy doesn't need to be intimidating or scary. As your therapist, I want to take this journey with you, and help you explore different approaches and forms of care, as you see what best helps you.

Our typical clients are those with issues of sexual dysfunction. This includes those with issues of sexual desire, arousal, orgasm, pain, satisfaction, or out-of-control sexual behavior/addiction. Most of my clients are from a conservative religious background, but this is not a must. We see clients that have a range of personal beliefs and values. We meet regularly with individuals and couples. Meeting as a couple is not a must. Individuals dealing with sexual dysfunction or out-of-control sexual behavior/addiction that are not in a committed relationship are also welcomed in treatment. We also have a Spanish speaking therapist.

Marriage, family and individual counseling for those who need a caring and engaged professional. My therapy is focused on the brain and how our brains can be healed and our lives can be changed forever. I specialize in difficulties in relationships and struggles with mental health disorders. I typically see individuals struggling with relationships, medications, depression, anxiety, mood disorders, bipolar disorder, self-esteem, trauma recovery, family problems, military (tricare) and pre/post mission preparation. I am close to BYU and UVU and I see students who suffer from ADHD, depression and anxiety.

I believe that all who enter my office deserve a space in which they feel safe to express themselves, feel seen and understood for who they are and feel empowered to challenge their difficulties. I'm motivated by the belief that building a therapeutic relationship with my clients and guiding them toward a nonjudgmental awareness of themselves may lead to positive change. I am passionate about helping others in their healing process so all who come to my office are welcome. My availability is Tues & Thurs (both online) from 8am - 4pm. Working with individuals experiencing anxiety and/or depression is my passion. I want to offer tools and coping skills to help live a fulfilling life despite the challenges that depression and anxiety bring. I have specifically noticed a rise in anxiety and depression amongst teens. I love helping this age group in giving them the best start at life possible, and assist them in building self-confidence and love for themselves as they go through this exciting stage of self-discovery. Helping women and young women discover their value and worth is the greatest reward in this life.

Trying to heal can be a lonely and hidden journey. Why open up if you will be judged or condemned? Seventeen years ago, I met a therapist who didn’t judge, and I knew he genuinely cared. I felt it! His genuine compassion, despite my flaws, made me realize healing is possible! From that point on, healing became my passion; it felt contagious. Helping others feel safe, heard, understood, and non-judged. Caused me to change my business career after getting my MBA, to get a 2nd Masters in Marriage & Family Therapy.

Dr. Spencer is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), an AAMFT approved supervisor and an owner and clinical director of Zest for Life Counseling. He has more than a decade of experience working with individuals, couples and families. Dr. Spencer utilizes evidenced based practices and specializes in working with trauma, grief, and couples on the brink of divorce. Dr. Spencer completed a Bachelors degree in Family Studies from Weber State University, a Master's degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Oklahoma State University, and a Doctorate in Human Development and Family Science also from Oklahoma State University.

I specialize in treating adults experiencing the effects of faith-related issues and/or sexual issues. Sex therapy may include addressing sexual shame, LGBTQ+ issues, anxiety, relationship issues, sexual dysfunction, libido differences, and sexual trauma. I am affirming of queer, non-monogamous (ENM, polyamory, etc), and kinky clients. Faith/religious issues may include faith transitions, mixed-faith marriages, excessive guilt, OCD tendencies, and limiting core beliefs. I am affirming of clients' personal values related to their faith, wherever they are on the spectrum of belief.
