Dorothy Is a licensed professional counselor who holds a certificate in clinical mental health counseling from Lamar University, and MEd. In school counseling from Lamar University and a bachelor of science degree in elementary interdisciplinary studies from the University of Houston.

I have a doctorate in Clinical Psychology and have been in practice since 1986. My style is interactive, but varies depending on the needs and personality of the client(s). I see the therapy process as a team effort with ongoing review of client satisfaction. When appropriate I consult other professionals and/or make referrals. I believe that peoples' feelings and behaviors are effected by their interpretations of events, and sometimes encourage clients to explore their interpretations. I try to work within their spiritual and cultural belief system, and seek information when my knowledge is limited.

In my practice, I don't assume that I have all the answers. I collaborate with you, the client, in a caring, respectful manner to identify personal strengths, areas for improvement and a plan to get there. I view life challenges as "keys to learning" on your life journey. I help others to understand that there is "HOPE" and that effective communication skills, increased personal insight, coping/goal-setting skills are tools you can use to dramatically improve your life and the lives of those around you. Psychotherapy is my passion and I want to help you grow and lead a successful life.

I am the Owner/Director of TLCC "where an open ear is always here". I specialize in severe mental health issues ranging from psychosis, anxiety, depression, mood disorders. As a therapist, I have designed my practice and intensive outpatient clinic to provide services for severe mentally disabled children and adults.

As a professional counselor licensed in 2010 and in private practice since 2015, I enjoy working with clients seeking a healthy balance in their lives. Working as a team, I find that the clients benefit most from collaboration to restore areas in their lives that are disjointed. My approach is practical, down-to-earth, and very nurturing. Danielle "Dani" Ellis is a counselor, coach, and psychotherapist who helps people having difficulty coping with emotional or behavioral problems that are affecting their happiness and peace of mind. She assists her clients by focusing on resilience, empowerment, assertiveness, and positive actionable change. Treatment is based on a wellness perspective where clients are understood, accepted, and encouraged to focus on their individual uniqueness and strengths rather than identifying with an illness or diagnosis. She helps clients heal from trauma, confront unhealthy habits, develop insight and awareness, and learn new ways to cope.

My sessions are forward focused in which the treatment plan is focused on areas of growth.
