My experience is multifaceted and includes crisis evaluation/intervention, substance abuse, Inpt.
All of us can become overwhelmed by life's demands, work responsibilities and relationship challenges. Struggles may seem to resolve over time but yet the same conflicts keep popping up again and again. Attempts to resolve or neutralize their impact, stretch our limits and move boundaries and abandon goals; ultimately losing sight of who we are. I encourage you to take a risk: give yourself permission and time to sort through your thoughts and feelings so you can restore energy and clarity to re-assess personal needs and goals.

I have worked in many different settings, including residential, crisis intervention, clinic, and leading healthy relationship workshops.
Have you ever wished that you could talk with someone about your deepest troubles and worries without being judged? Do you want to have someone who can help you untangle your emotions while feeling safe and accepted at the same time? Do you feel lost in a world where everyone else "has it together?" I assure you that everyone at some point in their lives would benefit from therapy. No issue is too big or too small- if something has been on your mind and you cannot resolve it no matter how hard you try, you've come to the right place.

I have been a certified social worker for twenty eight years. I provide therapy to adolescents and adults in individual, couple therapy and family sessions. As a therapist I often address clients with Major Depression, family stress, anxiety issues or substance abuse addiction. I address these issues on phone sessions or therapy face to face sessions. It is imperative for a therapist to be aware of various symptoms and needs for people to make goals to address these concerns actively.

Perhaps one of the most important decisions you can make is the decision to see a therapist. I understand how personal this is for you. The connection you make with the therapist that you choose is equally as important as taking that first step. That is why I create a safe, supportive and non-judgmental environment for you to discuss the challenges that you currently face. We will partner together to develop tools and coping skills to make positive change and live a happier life.

Intervention Therapists

How does an intervention work?

An intervention is a planned, structured meeting in which a person’s family or friends voice concerns about the person’s behavior and its consequences; the goal is for the person to accept treatment. In this meeting, the person’s loved ones (often with the guidance of a trained interventionist) share how the person’s behavior has harmed them and the consequences if the person refuses treatment. They collectively ask the person to accept a proposed treatment plan.

How effective are interventions?

There isn’t extensive research on the efficacy of interventions, in part because success is difficult to measure. Individuals often enter addiction treatment after an intervention, for example, but treatment itself may not work, especially if the person only begins due to external pressure from others rather than due to internal motivation to change. However, if all other attempts at helping someone have failed, an intervention may be worth exploring.

What are the limitations of interventions?

While a friend or family member’s intentions are in the right place in wanting to help a loved one through an intervention, there are significant limitations to the approach. The surprising nature of the event can make the person feel ambushed or judged. They may feel embarrassed or ashamed as a result, and relationships may be strained or broken. This can make it difficult for the individual to be receptive to the concerns of their loved ones and the interventionist.

Are there alternatives to interventions?

Rather than confronting a loved one through an intervention, an effective and less pressured approach is to create space for a caring, open, one-on-one conversation. This works best if the loved one asks open-ended questions, listens attentively to the answers, and frames their observations and statements with concern rather than judgment. More than one conversation may be needed, but change can take root over time.
