There are times when things are not going as well as we'd like in our family, social or work relationships, particularly post-Covid. You may feel alone, depressed, anxious, or have conflict or discomfort with those you care about. In my psychotherapy practice I help couples, individuals & families restore their sense of well being and connection. People learn how to be more present and intentional in accordance with their values. Partners learn to be safely available to each other through a dialogue process that teaches more effective listening, deeper understanding and empathy. In person and Telehealth meetings are offered.

Feeling stuck or fed up with your current therapist? Let's get real – life can be tough. It’s especially hard on ambitious people, parents & perfectionists who are expected to have it all together. The more successful you are (or are expected to be), the more difficult it is to keep it all together. Add anxiety, depression, & relationship issues – forget it. And the more that you achieve, the harder it becomes to find a therapist of your caliber or solutions that work for your complex issues. But I'm not here to hand out generic advice or quick fixes. I'm here to help you uncover the root of your challenges & build lasting changes.

My areas of specialty are post traumatic disorders, grief and loss, relationships and communication, sadness and depression, stress and anxiety, gender and sexual identity, immigration and work and career struggles.
I create an environment that helps clients explore both the internal and external barriers to their healing and growth. As a psychologist I pull from working with diverse groups of people and assist on issues of trauma, grief, loss, relationship difficulties, wellness and health. To me, therapy is best when it's a mix of approaches that are used strategically to create a nonjudgmental and empathic atmosphere. My style is both warm and thought-provoking, and I actively collaborate with and support those with whom I work.

Life is a journey, and often we get lost along the way. Psychotherapy is a transformative process that helps you to locate your internal compass, so that you can live a more fulfilling and productive life; navigate difficult periods and transitions; and ultimately feel more comfortable in your own skin. As a clinical psychologist, I have years of experience and training working with anxiety, depression, relationship issues, career obstacles, self-esteem, family discord, grief and loss, defeating patterns of behavior, and the process of coming to terms with difficult and traumatic life situations.

I specialize in treating adults with anxiety, perfectionism, sport- or performance-related concerns, and burnout. I often see clients who don't feel "good enough," have family-of-origin or multicultural concerns, experience relationship challenges, or are going through life transitions. As a former college soccer player, I also have a particular interest in working with current and former athletes, who may need help with things like anxiety, mood concerns, managing transitions (ex. from high school to college sports, life after sports), athletic burnout, team dynamics, effects of injury, and balancing multiple demands.

I specialize in adult psychotherapy, including anxiety, depression, self-esteem, substance use, trauma, relationships, and LGBTQ issues. It can be hard to experience hope when we feel stuck in old patterns of thinking and feeling about life, ourselves, and our relationships. This can lead to feelings of stress, confusion, unhappiness, or disappointment. I work to help individuals and couples to examine these patterns and to explore and experiment with new ways of thinking and acting, which in turn can have dramatic impact on how they are feeling.

No matter our background or experience, we all hit a bump in the road at one point or another. Navigating challenging and stressful life events such as infertility, parenthood, academic and work transitions, relationships, trauma, chronic illness is complicated. Intense feelings of anxiety, panic, or depression may seem overwhelming an at times, we turn to short term solutions, such as procrastination, alcohol, etc, which lead us in the wrong direction. Working with clients I focus on clarifying what is important and meaningful in life and how to take steps to actively move in that direction - even when faced with challenges.

If Self Help advice and strategies had been enough you probably would not be looking for a therapist. Those strategies make sense but are often very difficult to implement. The human psyche is a complicated mechanism which tends to resist change. Breaking problematic patterns of behavior and interactions with family, friends and in work environments is harder than it looks. Past history , fears and anxieties often contribute to making it difficult to make positive changes in ones life. My work with you includes examination of factors making it difficult to change and strengthening your resolve to make beneficial changes.

Anxiety and depression are concerns for people of all ages and frequently contribute to feelings of stress. I work closely with individuals whose struggles are getting in the way of developing safe, loving relationships and achieving objectives as well as those who are facing major life transition and feeling overwhelmed. Providing a warm, supportive relationship, I work with clients to identify and change patterns of behavior that are troubling them. For all of us, within the context of major stressors and recent or distant traumas, opportunities are present for identifying and building on our strengths.

As a yoga therapist, I believe that each of us has the innate power to heal ourselves and that we also need lots of help along the way. I love yoga therapy because it's focused, personalized, and individualized care. The same sorts of problems that draw people to more traditional psychotherapy also bring people to yoga therapy - depression, anxiety, stress, relationship difficulties, disordered eating, trauma, and many other types of pain and suffering.

Anxiety Therapists

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?

Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?

The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?

Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?

Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
