I work with adults and adolescents ages 16 and up who are navigating various life events and circumstances including anxiety, depression, grief and loss, panic, PTSD, navigating chronic illnesses like cancer and the effects of oppression from sexism, racism, homophobia, and transphobia. In therapy, I work with clients to create a space to deeply explore their unique personal experience and how they carry that experience with them as they navigate relationships with themselves, with others, and with the world. I work to support clients in finding more bearable ways to carry the pain of traumatic experiences and create meaning.

I help people with anxiety, depression, c-PTSD, and PTSD have a calm body and clear mind.
It's not talk therapy, it's Change Therapy. Do your overly strong reactions to certain things surprise and upset you? Have you been encouraged by others to try therapy but you aren't sure if it's for you? OR have you been in therapy before, but the same issues are back (with a vengeance), and you keep making the same mistakes. The truth is that talk therapy won't fix problems that live in your body. If you formed beliefs when you were upset or afraid, or too young to understand what was happening, your memories live in sounds, expressions, feelings and smells. Approaching change through talking doesn't address those channels.

I work with people who struggle with anxiety, depression and trauma.
Seeking therapy can be good news! One of the deepest needs for people is wholeness, to be fully accepted as they are and to experience relationships as a healing force toward growth and self-understanding. In my practice, clients are met with the deepest respect, the knowledge of underlying needs and patterns to be explored, and a passionate curiosity about your irreplaceable and meaningful existence in life.

We all want to be seen and understood and at the same time are afraid of what we and others will find. We don't trust ourselves or our decisions. We suffer from anxiety, depression, traumas and a myriad of other relational issues. In counseling we learn to understand ourselves and others by telling our stories well. As a greek philosopher once said, "An unexamined life isn't worth living". When we learn to examine ourselves with curiosity, compassion, and truth our life becomes clear hopeful and fullfilling.

Additionally, I often work with anxiety, grief, depression and eating disorders.
Life is unpredictable with many ups and downs. No matter how much we want life to move in a linear fashion it often goes unplanned causing us to feel off balance. I believe therapy is a safe place to begin your own personal journey and learning to be present in your life. It allows you to rediscover who you are. Therapy is different for every individual and/or couple. I have an EMDR, existential & integrative approach to helping clients create healthy, fulfilling and rewarding lives. I integrate therapeutic styles depending on the best fit for client and situation.

My areas of focus are anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, couples counseling, and development across the life span.
We experience many changes and challenges, such as relocation, growing within relationships, parenthood, or changes in education, career or employment status. Loss comes in many forms, and grief looks different for each individual. Therapy is a way to navigate these challenges, to grow self-awareness and coping skills, and to find meaning in the unexpected, while exploring the external and internal factors that influence our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors.

I have significant experience with eating disorder treatment, personality disorders, depression, and anxiety.
Do you feel that you are not your normal self and are looking for support in healing? In our society, it is easy to get caught up in our daily tasks and neglect our mental health. If you are looking for a space to heal, get support, and feel heard then you have come to the right place. I believe that therapy is a space where you can receive support and learn more about yourself in a safe environment.

I help people tackle anxiety, navigate relationship issues, and find work/life balance. You're tired of being on this swing where you don’t know if you want to implode or explode. It’s difficult slowing down racing thoughts, staying calm, and keeping fears at bay. Work/school takes up a lot of your time and the weekends seem to disappear. Sometimes you wish someone would just show up and break down your walls so you can fall apart without shame or embarrassment. It's time to get ahold of your anxiety, feel connected in your relationships, and value your time.

How often have you heard you're too sensitive? Are anxiety & overwhelm too familiar, and have found yourself in unhealthy relationships? Do you feel misunderstood like you don't fit in and often get hurt? Do you cringe with small talk, yearn for deep meaning & authenticity? Maybe you're a Highly Sensitive Person (HSP) like 20 to 30% of us who have heightened senses. We are born empathic, deeply moved, highly affected by grief, violence, and affected by trauma. We feel and notice everything so we need someone who understands us with kindness and compassion because it's hard to be sensitive in an insensitive world, especially now.

In my work I try to create a non-judgmental space where clients can find help with their own self-discovery, deal with anxiety, and find the source of their depression.
Life can be tremendously challenging and most of the clients I see struggle with some form of anxiety and/or depression and they wish to receive help with issues such as relationship concerns, stress, life transitions, and trauma. I use a psychoanalytically informed approach where I try to help my clients to understand their emotions and behaviors and to use that understanding to make choices appropriate for them.

Anxiety Therapists

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?

Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?

The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?

Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?

Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
