My clinical experience includes helping individuals work through relationship concerns, decision-making, life transitions, complex trauma, codependence, anxiety, and depression.
Wanting to be loved and accepted doesn’t make you needy, or extra, or selfish, or weak. It makes you human. In our work together my focus is building a relationship where you feel comfortable exploring what you think and feel, want and need. My style as a therapist is warm, relaxed, and conversational. I use playfulness, curiosity, creativity, and laughter to support the therapy process and I prioritize taking time to get to know you and what's important to you.

I support clients feeling overwhelmed, struggling with perfectionism or all-or-nothing mindsets that are taking a toll on their energy and mood (Anxiety/Depression).
Teens and Twenty-Somethings... It's not easy growing up and out and parents may not always know how to help. I work with a full range of ages from older children 15 years old to adults who are seeking support and guidance in meeting expected and unexpected challenges and changes. With my extensive background working with youth and families in community agencies, I specialize in supporting younger clients in navigating relationships with their family and friends as well as learning skills to manage independence successfully, but also with balance.

I also have experience working with people experiencing anxiety, depression, life transitions, family issues, trauma, multicultural identities, and work/life issues.
Sometimes, we simply need someone to hold space for us, someone to offer a safe, non-judgmental, accepting environment to feel heard and seen. Therapy is a time for just that: a time to explore yourself and to create self-awareness of your cognitions and social systems in ways that impact your feelings and behaviors. Therapy is a journey, a commitment to whole person healing for lasting change. I believe that clients have the power to reclaim their stories, as the experts of their own lives. I am committed to working with you to explore what might be keeping you from living and loving authentically.

Feeling stuck? Maybe you are burnt out, feeling overwhelmed with anxiety or grief, and your relationships are suffering. I help people in their 20's and 30's deal with the major transitions of this time of life: shifting family dynamics, partner relationships, health crises, and the scramble to actualize an authentic and meaningful life. Sometimes we think we should be able to figure it out on our own, or that our problems aren’t as bad as they could be - and we find ourselves hesitant to take the next step. If you are brave enough to give yourself the gift of support, I will meet your vulnerability with compassion and curiosity.

You're struggling with past traumas. Maybe you don't even realize that a lot of your frustration, anxiety and depression and current struggles are linked to past traumas. It can be overwhelming dealing with intense emotions and identify the why behind it to change your life. I would love to work with you and address some of the emotions and struggles that you have been dealing with. Have there been some past events in your life that have fundamentally changed you as a person?

I work with teens and adults who are experiencing anxiety or depression; struggling with school, work, or relationships; and exploring issues of self esteem or identity.
Sometimes we struggle to express what we need or want out of life. Other times we may feel that we are not living up to expectations. We can get stuck in a loop of our negative thoughts and fears. Building a trusting relationship with a counselor can help you step out of these patterns and bring meaning to your struggles. I really want to know what it’s like to be you; not only your inner life but also how you belong in the world around you. Together we will explore the things that are important to you and move toward the change that you are looking for.

Are you looking for a beginning that pays attention to the subtle healing and shifts that you are making and wanting to bring into the world? Often times the areas of our life that are not working well are guided by trauma informed emotional patterns and feeling habits, that pull us away from our own wisdom, progress and health. Fear and the energy it holds can unconsciously play a role in self sabotage, anxiety and counter manifesting. Using expressive arts, IFS, food science, poetry, spiritual awareness and a holistic approach, I can help you connect with your elevated self. I also provide walk and talk therapy in West Seattle.

You dream of a life that feels peaceful and exciting, challenging yet manageable, connected and secure. You know where you want to be, you’re just not sure how to get there yet. You might say “I’m sorry” more than you’d like to, feel frustrated that caring for yourself is so much harder than caring for others, or worry that you'd be a burden if you shared what you're really feeling. Maybe it's been like this for a while. One thing is sure: you’re ready for relief. You’re ready for more ease, playfulness, and joy. You’re ready to feel more connected to your loved ones. Most of all, you’re ready to look to the future with hope.

I work with adults and adolescents who have experienced trauma, anxiety, depression, and difficult life transitions.
Whatever you are going through, you shouldn't have to go through it alone. Sometimes, we encounter barriers that can keep us from living the joyous life we deserve. Maybe those barriers include: depression, anxiety, or trauma reactions. Perhaps you need help on building your skills, strengths, resiliency, and emotional awareness to cope with the various challenges throughout life. Or, maybe you want the tools to align your life with your values and vision. Even though painful, difficult experiences are inevitable, that does not mean we can't live our best lives, or be our most authentic and fulfilled selves.

Anxiety Therapists

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?

Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?

The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?

Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?

Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
