I utilize an eclectic blend of evidence-based therapies and feedback-informed therapy to empower you to make the progress toward freedom from past painful experiences, worry, stress, anxiety, and hoarding (high clutter).
Overwhelmed and stressed out? Triggered by things that you feel like you "should" be able to handle more calmly? Maybe you know how you want to live but keep finding yourself reacting in the moment. It's challenging to understand the things that set you off and to take the steps you long for alone. It would be easier if you had a compassionate guide to help you understand why you keep slipping up and to help develop tools to empower you to make the changes you desire. You're looking for someone who challenges you, but is still easy to talk to, someone who's on your team.

I work to improve the lives of individuals to cope with life's challenges within trauma, grief and loss, behavioral issues, career, mood disorders, multi-cultural and transitions counseling, difficulties with substance abuse and co-occurring disorders, stress, depression/anxiety, gender and sexual identity issues and personal growth.
I would like to take this opportunity to share my process of therapy, as a blended view that embraces the whole person’s, body, mind, spirit and emotions. I place value upon the healing relationship that looks beyond simply treating a disease or disorder. A philosophy that views each person is whole but may need additional support to understand the total person. It is my philosophy that optimal health and mental wellness are connected to all areas of your life. I believe the client is always the expert on their own story and to have a respectful, informed and kind partnership that honors their own personal experiences.

Most of the people I work with are struggling with anxiety or depression.
My approach involves looking at the whole person: my aim is to help you reduce symptoms using evidence-based practices while also supporting you to develop insight into the cause of your distress. Rather than just putting a band-aid on your feelings, I want to help you figure out where they are coming from. I believe a warm, supportive environment is most conducive to healing and growth. I tend to listen more than I talk.

I specialize in working with women and men who struggle with complex trauma, anxiety, depression, grief, relationship/family issues, sexual abuse, and PTSD.
Meaning of life is different for everyone and everyone has their own mission that permits one a great sense of fulfillment in their lives. We are unique when dealing with challenges in life, and at times might need support in finding a purpose that promotes inner growth and self-awareness. Finding solutions can become challenging at times but with an engaging therapeutic relationship, one's challenges become meaningful and solvable feats. . How can we make sense of obstacles that damp many of our dreams and plans for life? How do we confront difficulties with curiosity and self-awareness

As a dual diagnosis/co-occurring psychotherapist, (licensed mental health counselor and licensed substance use disorder professional) my goal is to help you uncover your true potential and lead a life that is worth celebrating. I believe that healing can happen through the process of empathic and supportive counseling. I work with mood issues, personality disorders, grief, substance use and more. I utilize a culturally sensitive and holistic psychodynamic style of therapy. This approach encourages development in all areas of life, and pays special attention to unconscious factors, childhood upbringing, trauma, and cultural identity (race, religion, sexuality, gender, disability, etc). I am currently accepting clients for group therapy, that will combine the sport/art of crew rowing with group talk therapy. This is a powerful way of feeling connection.

Hi! My name is Veronica and go by my nickname, Moica. I have an eclectic solution-focused approach to my work with individuals. Utilizing a customized approach to support each client's unique challenges and barriers. Support my client to take the lead in their treatment and create an engaging dialogue and experience. Utilizing therapy as a safe place to vent, process and express yourself is a great use of your session; however, I also enjoy treating from a systemic approach. This allows me to create a clear road map for my clients on how they can reach some of their “Big Goals”, whether they are personal and or professional goals.

Anxiety Therapists

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?

Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?

The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?

Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?

Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
