We all need a safe space to unburden our fear, anxiety and sadness. Therapy is a place where you can do that freely. There are as many “kinds” of therapy as there are therapists. As a seasoned therapist I tend to have a more eclectic blend of therapy modalities. I can change and offer different approaches depending on what you need. One of the most important things a therapist does is meet you where you are and walk with you forward, out of the place of pain that brought you in. I like to think of it as meeting people where they are, sitting down and drawing a map together to get you back to being you!

I take a creative, client-centered approach to therapy, utilizing narrative therapy, EMDR, IFS, CBT, and DBT to help clients with symptoms of anxiety, depression, trauma, PTSD, and relationship issues.
ACCEPTING NEW CLIENTS Do you have a sense that you have no control over your life, thoughts, or feelings, causing you NOT to be an active participant in your own life? Do these feelings cause you to feel that you are drifting through life, becoming depressed and anxious? My goal is to offer a safe, supportive space, to walk with you on your journey, explore aspects of the 'self' that you would like to build, and discover strengths that can be used in your present and future, in order to construct the life you desire. Remember, the steps you take don’t have to be big, they just have to be heading you in the right direction.

I enjoy helping a person realize that they can heal- that PTSD isn't Terminal, that Anxiety doesn't have to own you, that Anger cannot only be "managed" but understood and defused.
Limited availability at this time. I Love what I do! Sounds Crazy- but the truth is I love working with people who have been thru unspeakable events in life and are looking to find their way back. Trauma is an abnormal event so approach it from a new perspective, talk about the things you are told not to and get into the depths of it. You have to be willing to walk into that bad neighborhood, that has become your mind, and clear it out- but you don't have to walk in there alone. Let me come with you. I'll be your lifeline.

Anxiety Therapists

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?

Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?

The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?

Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?

Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
