I love working with individuals and couples trying to cope with anxiety and stress. My clients might feel stuck in relationships or be struggling with creating healthy boundaries. Over time my clients gain more self-compassion and confidence as we work together on uncovering stories that have contributed to what they’re wrestling with. Many of the mental health struggles we face are rooted in deeper stories that need to be expressed. I also offer EMDR therapy for those wanting to work with issues that feel stuck and immovable.

Everyone experiences anxiety, depression, and loss at sometime in their life. Often events and people happen in our lives that cause distress. No one deserves to be in pain and no one should have to endure when there is the possibility to reduce the pain. My goal is to help my clients find relief through self exploration and a desire to want to feel better. My job is to walk with my clients in their path to mindfulness. My goal is to provide a safe space for emotions to be expressed and validated without judgment. Together we will identify patterns and triggers, and create skills to reduce future emotional distress.

After a recent sabbatical, I have several openings. Please reach out if interested. - You are a high achieving, professional woman, in your 20s or 30s, and something is holding you back. You find yourself struggling to handle everything on your plate and your unresolved internal issues (and family issues) are taking a toll. Perhaps you are struggling in your relationships. You may be searching for a clear path to follow. Or maybe you're trying to understand why you are the way you are and FINALLY break some cycles. You’re looking for a therapist who just gets it and can help you work through your sh!t.

My approach focuses on helping people learn to live through (not against) their emotional pain. The aim of our work will be to understand, with increasing depth and appreciation over time, things that feel unbearable and impossible to change. In my experience this approach done in partnership can facilitate lasting changes in a person's life. I strive to create a supportive and encouraging environment where a person can feel safe to explore the challenges they are facing, and work towards a healthier state of mind.

Activism is a huge part of what I bring in my therapy work with clients. In trauma and healing work, I bring my direct experiences of anti-oppression, feminist, and social justice frameworks to clients. I understand that I am not excused from doing work to dismantle systems of oppression, due to the privileges from my intersectional identities as a college-educated, cisgendered, Filipina woman of color. Trauma and healing work require an alignment and connection to one’s body, mind, spiritual values and practices, and I see this as an extension of my involvement in activism, anti-oppression, and social justice work.

As a couple, family, & individual therapist, I honor the importance of our inherent human need to be in fulfilling connection with others and ourselves. And I recognize how difficult this can sometimes be. Whether you're feeling disconnected from your partner, overwhelmed by the level of conflict in your day-to-day family interactions, going through a major life transition, or seeking individual therapy to explore how past hurt and current challenges are constraining you from more fully inhabiting your life, therapy can be a powerful tool for growth. I offer a free consultation to explore our possible work together.

I seek to provide a supportive space to work with issues including anxiety, depression, life transitions, and relationship to self, others, and the world. How do you make sense of the world? What holds meaning for you? Is there a way to find more room to breathe? I hope to help navigate the places where you might feel stuck, from a place of connection and genuine investment. Also, I grew up overseas and have an interest in international clients and clients navigating cultural/intergenerational issues.

I believe in honoring your intersecting identities and how they contextualize your experience. As a multicultural/mixed Asian American (Korean/Filipino/white), highly sensitive, queer femme, the question of how to navigate life in the duality has perpetually challenged and inspired me throughout my life, delivering me to this work. I'm passionate about working with clients of marginalized gender, sexuality, and racial identities who are exploring their truths related to culture, race, generation, and queerness. I hope that together we can explore the important intersection of personal transformation and social change.

People seek therapy for many reasons. Sometimes, a feeling of overwhelm or crisis dominates. Alternately, one may feel "stuck" in one's life -- trapped in long-standing patterns. In our work together, we will address the issues bringing you to therapy and uncover the larger dynamics which are influencing the situations at hand.

Everyone goes through difficult times. These times leave different marks on different people. I love working with clients who are ready to get healing for the pain and help to move on. Clients who are ready for a time when painful memories do not trigger painful emotions and physical responses. Clients who are ready for when anxiety is an occasional difficulty and then like a large, puffy cloud continues to wander on by. It takes work but healing is possible.

I work with people in their 20s and 30s who are navigating the transitions and tasks of early adulthood such as moves, breakups, career issues, and processing past traumas; teens dealing with the pressures of highschool; and parents who want to decrease conflict and improve their relationships with their kids. I also help people process past experiences of living in residential treatment settings, especially "troubled teen industry" survivors.

FAQs - About Therapy and Counseling

How can I find a therapist in Seattle?

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Learn more about how to find a therapist

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.

Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
