If you are struggling in your daily life with symptoms of anxiety, depression, relationship issues, conflict, grief and loss, stress or PTSD or you’re burnt out at work, We can partner to help you figure out a way to honor your true nature, effectively communicate, gain clarity and the skills you need to thrive in your life.
Reaching out is a big decision. We all have the ability to change, learn and grow. We are not born with skills, throughout our life we gain many coping mechanisms, but some of those are born out of survival, fear or toxic family dynamics and might make it challenging to navigate in relationships or during life’s transitions. For many this leads to experiencing a variety of symptoms. Life can also throw us some big curveballs that feel impossible to adjust to. I believe with assistance anyone can process the past, heal, build coping skills and cultivate a mindset that is needed to create a life that is enjoyable

Common clients I see suffer from depression, anxiety, marital issues or issues related to the pandemic.
Psychology works because it is a way to help people understand their problems and correct or change so that they can live more healthy or satisfying lives. Many people come for therapy if they are experiencing problems with depression, anxiety or relationship issues. Some other common problems that I help treat are problems with work injuries, sleep, weight, stress, trauma, and sexual problems. These problems can be greatly helped through therapy. I employ an eclectic approach to therapy, meeting each individual’s needs rather than using one form of treatment.

I help people that are working through various types of traumas, experiencing anxiety, depression, mood fluctuations, and anyone who wants to improve their coping and distress tolerance skills.
My therapy practice is centered in helping people discover the strength they already have, but have been struggling to use. Therapy can be useful for anyone, but sometimes finding the strength to seek out help can be the hardest part. I use a non-judgemental, empathetic, and casual approach with my clients to meet them wherever they are in their lives. Together, we establish goals and solutions. I work with those who are struggling with self-expression and effective communication as well as those who are having difficulty with identity exploration within and outside of relationships.

Mental health challenges can cause us to feel like we are waging a daily, silent war with ourselves. Physical tension and racing thoughts may seem to consume the entirety of your being and yet, deep down, a part of you has a sense that this is not really you. I know it is not you, too. I believe so deeply in your resilience, innate well-being, and ability to thrive beyond your current experience of anxiety and tension. I help individuals experiencing OCD, eating disorders, generalized anxiety, and patterns of addiction to live a life beyond symptom management.

After years of working alongside people struggling with substance use and mental health disorders, I have come to learn the importance of understanding each person as an individual with individual needs and the need for community and acceptance. I believe that each person can develop a deeper sense of self through viewing therapy as a journey that allows for learning, awareness, and self-compassion. I really do enjoy working with individuals and groups and seek to have an authentic and warm therapeutic relationship with my clients. Building trust is paramount to successful treatment and my approach is to start with a more open and conversational tone after assessment. The process will focus on feelings and creating a space to foster more sensitive conversations. My own life experiences have guided me to this ‘feeling work’. My life’s purpose is to use the gift for seeing the strengths in people to assist the client in finding their genuine self. Past clients have described me as “caring”, “empathic” and “helpful”.

My focus is on helping people improve themselves and help them enjoy their lives. I think sometimes to get better outcomes, if we might want to change our behaviors/thoughts/feelings. Typically I use DBT, CBT and behavioral techniques that might help us make some changes. An engaged client that puts in some effort during session and/or towards their treatment plan that usually does best. Only sees adults, over +18.

Talk therapy is great, but what many of the people I work with have missed in past therapy experiences is how to implement what they have learned about themselves into their real life. Self-regulation is key and after establishing a solid foundation using skills training for increasing distress tolerance and emotion regulation, I work with people to get at the root of the problems they are experiencing by using EMDR therapy and other interventions that address the core stuff, which is often the stuff that has kept us stuck in patterns that hurt. From there, we can work on improving your relationships and personal development.

I believe therapy is most effective when the client feels safe and empowered to address whatever may be blocking them from living the life they want. As such, I strive to create a warm and inclusive environment where the client feels respected and honored as who and where they are today. My practice involves an integrative approach to person centered therapy.

My general focus is working with people who feel overwhelmed, stressed, and anxious.
I am client centered in my approach. I work with individuals, late adolescents, and families. The foundation of our work will be that of mutual respect and clear expectations. I view the counseling relationship as a collaborative process and believe the role of a therapist can be likened to that of a "coach," one who challenges old ineffective behaviors and beliefs. I provide a confidential and supportive environment for you to share your concerns, and goals. Through dialogue and deep listening, new choices and next steps will be brought to light.

Anxiety Therapists

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?

Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?

The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?

Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?

Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
