Every life is a series of transitions, some of which can feel impossible to navigate. People and families can often feel ‘stuck’ in their current struggles and unable to overcome the challenges and changes they are experiencing. Whether the tough moments are navigating issues in daily life or processing landmark events such as pregnancy or parenthood, the need for support is valid and you don’t have to push through alone. Therapy helps you develop the tools and knowledge needed to bring out your unique strengths and abilities. No matter what age or life stage you are in, healing is possible.

Did you grow up in a high-control religion or strict church community that made you feel ashamed, powerless, or small? Maybe you have anxiety or depression, struggle with "mom guilt", or had a traumatic childhood that impacts your relationship with your partner or spouse. I know how you feel and I can help. Finding a therapist is hard! If you want to explore healing in a safe and gentle therapeutic space, I would love to help. I work with women and non-binary individuals to help them find peace, confidence, and calm.

If there is one constant in life, it's change; a new job or suddenly having to look for one , a new relationship or a heart break, a marriage, a divorce, life not working out the way you had hoped. Let me help you navigate these uncertain times, helping you to find a way through them or take a new tack or tap into hidden strengths. Sometimes we can change the situation; sometimes we must change ourselves, tearing down limiting beliefs and narratives to create new beliefs and narratives that honor our true self, our true values, and our goals.

Navigating the messy, painful, hopeful, and confusing parts of our life is so hard to do on our own. We may feel lost, alone, or like we will never have the kind of life we want to have. What seems to come easily for others may feel crushingly hard for us to get for ourselves. Therapy offers us the space to be witnessed in our pain and struggle while also digger deeper into the honest truths and hopes of our life. I deeply believe that we heal in community, and therapy is the perfect place to begin to allow ourself to be seen, heard, and understood in a totally safe and consistent environment.

Let’s face it, modern life is stressful. With constant demands on your time and attention, it’s not surprising that you’ve neglected what used to be your north star – your relationship. This may leave you feeling disconnected from your partner & trapped in a cycle of go-nowhere fights. You probably miss the spark that made you excited to see each other at the end of the day. You long for the days when the two of you were in love. I am on a mission to create a better world by helping couples build stronger relationships. People in healthy relationships feel better, get more done & contribute to positive change in the world.

Availability is currently limited. You've overcome a lot already in your life. The people in your life consider you successful and admire how far you've come. You are a "pattern changer" in your family of origin. But you are ready for even more ease and joy. My clients are smart and successful and want to integrate deeper calm, clarity and courage into their lives. They have a lot of insight, but still struggle with making changes or feeling as good as they can. Let me help you to remember and accentuate your inner wisdom and resilience.

During our lives, we encounter experiences that can move us away from a direct connection to ourselves. Influences from family, friends, peers, jobs, and the greater culture can affect how we view and express ourselves. We can become conditioned to thinking, feeling and behaving in a way that is incompatible with who we really are and what we want in our lives. This compromises our ability to value our unique identity and to express and apply ourselves, and our strengths. I will help you to identify, understand and remove barriers that are keeping you from realizing your fullest potential. I offer Telehealth only in California.

This time has been isolating and life alternating to say the least. Many of us are left with a feeling of overwhelm as we are separated from one another and cannot participate in the lifestyle routines that once helped us to feel grounded. I have been working with many clients this year to find a source of balance and inner peace when so much of the world has shut down and become unavailable to us. From anxiety, depression and Pandemic PTSD to low motivation and deflation. Feelings of isolation, loneliness and despondency are a few of the many issues I work with in my clients at the moment. Let me help you build your new world!

For over 40 years I have worked with families, couples, individual adults, and children to help them feel better about themselves and their lives. I have taught people skills at communicating which can help them take care of their needs and not interact in ways that can damage relationships or others' self esteem. Because counseling involves healing on all levels--the body, the emotions and the mind--I help people learn how to heal themselves, and in turn help others to heal. My approach is holistic and client-centered where I integrate therapeutic modalities according to the person's needs.

Many of us can relate with feeling overwhelmed by the wide variety of seasons life can often toss our way. We can find ourselves wrestling a variety of complicated emotions; including feeling stuck in our lives, disillusioned by relationships or careers, realizing that previous habits and patterns no longer serve us, reeling from past or present trauma, and experiencing challenging mental health symptoms as a result.

I believe in putting every client at ease so that we can build upon your strengths, uncover areas of challenge and patterns that are no longer serving you, while working toward your goals. I specialize in anxiety, stress management, life transitions, identity exploration, pregnancy, parenting, depression, grief, loss, trauma, infertility and third party reproduction, and chronic illness. I am especially passionate about supporting individuals and couples experiencing infertility because of my own experience with it, which led me to pursue additional postgraduate training and supervision.

FAQs - About Therapy and Counseling

How can I find a therapist in Seattle?

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Learn more about how to find a therapist

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.

Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
