If you or your child are experiencing any of these, please know there is an active solution to help with this! My specialty involves "tweens" (ages 10-13) with a clinical focus around ADHD, ODD, trauma, anxiety, depression, and self-esteem.
**AS OF 1/03/2024: CURRENTLY ACCEPTING A FEW NEW CLIENTS** Trying to focus on one task at a time can be challenging and sometimes boring. Emotions then take over and you find ways to release that tension in a negative way. During this time, it can cause conflict between family members, peers, and/or significant others. These negative thoughts/actions are easy to express and obvious strengths are pushed to the side. Having someone who has gone through this personally/professionally can provide active solutions, which can help develop a sense of ease and comfort within the family and individual.

Welcome. I'm so glad you're here. Taking this initial step to reach out and pursue therapy is a powerful act of self-love. I wholeheartedly believe that you have inside of you everything that you need to change, grow and heal. My role is to facilitate and support that natural resource as we work together toward your goals. I specialize in working with adults and adolescents dealing with anxiety, depression, healing from trauma (past or present), navigating a difficult life transition, or those wanting to learn more about their own emotions and relationship patterns. I only see teenagers age 15 and up.

I enjoy helping individuals with anxiety, LGBTQIA-related concerns, neurodivergent adults and teens, relationship issues including non-traditional relationships, and challenges with stress, motivation, and self-esteem.
You’ve grown up wondering if you’re weird, wrong, or at fault. You feel like you don’t align with your family, your assigned gender, or traditional relationships. You wonder if you speak the same language as others in your world. You’ve tried to fit in, get things done, and meet others’ standards, but have always felt like you’re missing the mark. You feel stuck, like everyone else knows something you don’t. Now, you want guidance, support, and a deeper understanding of yourself and your ideal life.

It is of my personal belief that within most of us lies the resources to live a happy life. Unfortunately, things such as trauma, environmental stressors, or a lack of skills can get in the way of our ability to access these resources. Think of the last time you felt an overwhelming sense of peace, whether that be while soaking in a beautiful scenery, or watching children play. This "peace," or what I call "True Self," is within all of us.

Having been in the behavioral health field for over a decade, I have learned that relationships and safety are paramount to healing. I have learned that people are not broken, but surviving. Sometimes, it is how we've learned to survive that no longer serves us. Through looking at attachment patterns over a lifetime, I use EMDR to help target behaviors that no longer serve. I also use elements of ACT and mindfulness to create space that feels safe and creates hope. I also will write emotional support animal letters for those who qualify.

You don’t have to be sick to be Building Healthier Relationships (BHR). BHR is about developing a better toolbox to enhance relationships with yourself and others, and to provide a safe, nurturing environment for learning and healing. Life isn’t just a bowl of cherries—it also includes the PITs. In life, the PITs (Prevention, Intervention, and Treatment) provide the seeds for future cherries. While we are all victims at times, healing starts with moving from a victim mentality of blaming others to the survivor mentality of taking responsibility—not for what happened in the past, but for how to go forward.

As human beings, we live and grow and learn in a complex world. At the core of this complexity are the various relationships that we find ourselves in. Relationships with our selves, family members, friends, and communities. Some of these are chosen by us; others are not. Nevertheless, we often find our deepest meaning and deepest difficulties in these relationships. It is in the complex interplay between ourselves and these relationships that we can find ourselves struggling, even suffering. And yet there are strengths and challenges, weaknesses and limits, hope and pain in the midst of this life.

Anxiety Therapists

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?

Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?

The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?

Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?

Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
